Storyline

One of the iconic Latvian movies. Based on Astrid Lindgren's book 'Emil of Lönneberga'. A story of a little boy, Emil, who, according to others is incredibly naughty, but actually Emil is a lot more kind hearted than all the rest. And everything he does is to help someone. But somehow it all the time turns out like a prank. His family won't agree with any pranks on themselves, so there goes Emil in his father's tool shed, where he's locked up for every prank. Includes the phrase - 'the main idea is to keep your feet warm', which has been adapted in Latvian culture, so it's already a saying. Written by Kristine Gi

Very good comedy from the Latvians
18 December 2005 | by (Latvia) – See all my reviews

This movie represents Latvian talent of making good movies. It is made from the Roman of the Swedish(sorry if i'm wrong with the country i couldn't find were exactly in the internet) writer Astrid Lindgreen.

There are two movies about the Lennenberger Emil, one from Latvia and the other from Sweden(not sure). I saw a conversation in the TV where were people of other countries talking about these two movies and they said that the movie from Latvians is much funnier and interesting as the Swedish one. I would rate everyone to watch this movie- it's worth the spent time.

The action takes place in Sweden, but by watching this movie I have a feeling that the action is taking place in Latvia :)
