Before Jackass, there was a skateboarding magazine called Big Brother. Jackass director, Jeff Tremaine was a former editor and most of the guys who would soon be in Jackass were featured in the magazine such as CKY member Bam Margera, Chris Pontius, Steve-O, and Wee Man. One day, Johnny Knoxville came to Big Brother to do an article on self-defense equipment which Tremaine agreed to publish and also told Johnny to film it for Big Brother's video line. After the video went out, television producers saw the video and gave Knoxville his own show.
