The theme tune is composed by the award winning Hans Zimmer. Hans went on to have a hugely successful career in Hollywood, composing for such films as Rain Man, Dark Knight, Inception and the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
The original Going for Gold (1987) was hosted by Henry Kelly and aired on BBC1 for 10 series (1987 - 1996). There is also a popular version in France (at time of writing) called "Questions pour un champion".
The revival of Going for Gold ran from 13 October 2008 to 20 March 2009 for 105 episodes on Channel Five. John Suchet was the presenter with Dean Wilson standing in when John was unavailable. Alex Kramer presented the viewers phone-in question section, something which was repeated throughout the show. Vicky Letch stepped in while Alex was on holiday.
