Remembering Brittany Murphy on Her Birthday: 12 of Her Best Movie Moments

10 November 2015 7:00 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Crazy to think that Brittany Murphy's gone at all, let alone that it's been six years since she tragically passed away when she was only 32. We've been thinking about her a lot this year, what with Clueless having marked its 20th anniversary and it being one of the greatest movies ever and all. And we realized that, while there's no shame in Tai being the crowning jewel of her career, Murphy was someone to watch all the time, whether she was keeping a secret in Don't Say a Word, making us cry in Girl, Interrupted, annoying us in Eight Mile or just being adorable again in Uptown Girls. Today would have been her 38th birthday and, while this could easily be an all-Clueless list, here's a look »

Billy Joel has added two new "Uptown Girls" to his onstage roster – Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer!

The actresses and new BFFs made a surprise cameo during the singer's performance of his classic song at a Chicago concert on Thursday.

Amy was the first guest to appear, kicking off a reenactment of the closing scene from her hit comedy "Trainwreck," before being joined by a group of friends, including JLaw. The two stars then turned the routine into a duet, removing their shoes and shimmying atop Billy's piano for the duration of the number.

Film Review: ‘Max’

25 June 2015 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

As far as canine hero stories go, “Max” is a strangely mixed breed. A hodgepodge of corny coming-of-ager, inspirational boy-and-his-pup pablum, modern-day military tale and surprisingly violent PG-rated action thriller, it’s an all-around odd choice to release up against the big dogs of summer. Even if Warner Bros. hopes some of that “American Sniper” B.O. magic rubs off on a film ostensibly about a pooch overcoming Ptsd (“American Sniffer”?), woe be to the family-targeted movie competing with the likes of “Inside Out” and “Jurassic World.” Expect a bigger bite in ancillary.

Given the appeal of the Belgian Malinois (or, technically, six Belgian Malinois) playing the titular character, it’s almost a shame the film has to rely on generic bipeds to drive the action. That begins with Texan teen Justin Wincott (Josh Wiggins), who becomes Max’s de facto master after his older brother Kyle (Robbie Amell) is killed on an Afghanistan battlefield. »
