Storyline

Abhyankar (Amrish Puri) is an orthodox head of his family, a retired police officer, he has values which he wants his family to also uphold. As a result of his values, his daughter is unable to be forthright and is unable to introduce the young man (Anil Kapoor) she loves, and concocts a scheme whereby her father would approve of her lover. What results is quite hilarious. Written by rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

Funny movie
9 February 2001 | by (Anaheim, California) – See all my reviews

After a long absence from Indian cinema Hrishikesh Mukherjee comes back with his trademark comedy. It's a good funny movie, although, not as good as his past movies like Golmaal, Rang Birangi. The story revolves around Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla. They are in love but Juhi's father(Amrish Puri) is very orthodox and expects his daughter to marry someone else. The final result is a comedy where Anil Kapoor tries every way to impress Amrish Puri. This movie brings a breath of fresh air in today's Bollywood where the directors are spending loads of money without any results. The crux of any good movie is a good story/dialogue, which lacks in most of today's movies. Hopefully the new kids on the block will learn somtehing from Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
