Definitely worth watching

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this movie on two levels. First, the cast. The four women in the film have something good going for them. There's porn veteran Kathy Hilton, looking sexy as always, and big-boobed Debra Christian; that alone should have sufficed, but there's also a stunner blonde who is a fresh face in the business, for I have not seen her in any other film. She, along with the dark-haired beauty who started as the wife in "Terror at Orgy Castle" are two of the biggest mysteries in that era of porn, one hit wonders who left lasting impressions from just one film.

Anyway, this stunner blonde, perhaps not a beauty in a glamorous sense, has a hell-bent- for-leather look that is perfect for porn. She and Debra Christian have a couple of hot sex scenes, which brings me to the second thing I liked: the sex.

The two ladies' scenes are simultaneously hard and soft. Debra uses her hand to arouse a donkey-dicked bellhop, and it came as a surprise that the handjob was so graphic. It feels like a historical moment, when soft core turned hard. Debra even mounts the man for some cowgirl action, and it's not as graphic, but still clearly evident that they're having real sex. It gets better, for the stunner blonde has her own handjob action going on, not as graphic perhaps, but still evident. Watching this sexy beast perform was quite a treat.

The two ladies team up for a threesome with Ron Darby, and he does a rare hardcore performance. Perhaps for the only time in his film career he gets a full erection. Both ladies used their hand on his thing and Debra gets another cowgirl ride.

As an added bonus, the film begins with a non-sex scene, and the woman who plays the secretary is also gorgeous. Had she done a sex scene I'd rate this film a 10. But good female casting, bold, graphic sex (for the time) makes this film a winner.

Mediocre quickie, with hardcore elements

Reflecting the trailblazing success of MONA, this mainly softcore sex film boasts a couple of minutes of hardcore action, making it unusual for the early 1970/71 time frame. Apart from that it has little to offer.

Quite haphazardly made (and rendered even worse by the choppy, scratchy/truncated print that survived for current DVD transfer), WEEKEND has a flimsy premise of two guys anxious to get away for a weekend of carousing, pretending to be attending a convention. The wives insist on tagging along, so all four head to a hot sheets motel. From here on in, one longs for the innocent (and entertaining) days of Laurel & Hardy, who practically invented this plot device.

Early on it becomes clear that the filmmakers are disinterested in the proceedings, as our hero asks his pal a simple question about his new sports jacket, but unable to handle improvised dialog, the guy stammers some nonsense instead of making up banter. Of course this flub remains in the final edit.

Any semblance of story believability falls apart at the hotel, as the wives go one way and the husbands another, finding willing partners for sex acts to fill out the running time. Kathy Hilton is the loveliest cast member, showing off her wares in a nice shower scene. She and wifey friend get it on with a lifeguard stud in a hardcore threesome that is surprising only because most of the action is the formula simulated sex that was mandatory in the softcore era.

Cast overlaps with the strictly softcore BULLS MARKET, featured on the same SWV double feature. Why one film is soft and the other shot hard is mysterious but perhaps just a case of timing: the wave of change (and Gresham's inevitable law) was in the air with the end of the Swinging Sixties.
