WWF Magazine advertised a WWF Women's Championship match for this event, featuring Alundra Blayze (Debra Ann Miceli) vs. Aja Kong. The match was scratched from the card, after Miceli turned up on WCW Monday Nitro on December 18, 1995, and proceeded to dump her WWF Women's Title in a trash can. The move caused Miceli to be blacklisted from WWE for almost two decades, until her eventual induction at the WWE Hall of Fame (2015).
This is the first Royal Rumble match in which all participants had their ring entrance music played (and not just the first and second entrants and the winner as in previous matches) up until this event participants entered to no music.
According to Steve Austin on his Stone Cold Podcast, his (The Ringmaster) elimination when it occurred was accidental and attempted to signal to Shawn Michaels from outside the ring, with whom he had a pre-planned spot, that he bungled the plan.
Only WWF PPV appearance for Doug Gilbert.
The Royal Rumble debuts of the early incarnations of four future WWE Superstars: Kama (The Godfather), Hunter Hearst Helmsley (Triple H), The Ringmaster (Stone Cold Steve Austin) and Isaac Yankem D.D.S. (Kane).
