Trivia

Originally, Mick Jagger and David Bowie were to perform a duet of Martha and the Vandellas' "Dancing in the Street" with Jagger in Philadelphia and Bowie in London. However, when they realized that it would be technically impossible, they decided to make a video and single of the song. It later became a top five hit and the proceeds were donated to the Live Aid Trust. See more »

Quotes

Mike Jagger: I came to play in Philadelphia because of the cause, because of Live Aid, of course. But I also came to have myself a good time. And I've sure as hell done that.

The Day Rock Cared
5 April 2003 | by (Los Angeles, California) – See all my reviews

This was probably the greatest gathering of rock talent since the halcyon days of pop festivals in the 1960's. Just imagine a bill featuring everyone from Run D.M.C. to Led Zeppelin. This was perhaps the greatest show in the history of popular music and all the musicians played pretty much for free and made it one of the most memorable events not only in music history, but in the history of the world. Too bad that spirit didn't carry over into the 90's. Maybe the world would be a better place.
