For a Rip-off and Merge of a lot of Comedies - Not too shabby
JGnino20 June 2001
Given that I had the lowest expectations for this movie, it was actually a pretty fun movie to watch. The characters were pretty funny, acting not bad, and it moved at a quick pace. What more can you ask from a "USA Network Original Movie"?

It was a bit annoying to see blatant rip-offs of various scenes from more successful comedies (i.e. Dumb&Dumber, The Man Show, etc.), but it worked in that it gave the audience a chance to play a game of "Name that Tune" of stolen comedy bits.

Besides, its good to see Zack from "Saved by the Bell" has finally gotten some new acting work!

Moronic parody of E.T.
wayno-619 June 2001
It kills a couple of hours. As opposed to "Pearl Harbour" which also was a moronic two hour movie, but it was "crammed" into 3 hours..

It's OK to kill the time
de_surfende_hollander25 February 2004
I mainly watched Beer Money to see if Mark-Paul Gosselaar can assure you that he's popular for his acting and not for his SBTB-time. Well, he didn't. His acting wasn't too good. I liked Mercedes McNab and Nick von Esmarch (am I spelling that right?) better. There are a few funny scenes, but most of the time it's not even of second-class-quality. The story wasn't always clear to me. And I also wonder why they called it Beer Money. That's mentioned once in the movie, but has nothing to do with the rest. It seemed like a weak copy of E.T. Maybe this movie is funnier for little kids, but if you don't know what to do, this movie is OK to kill the time.

incredibly underrated film class if its own
tom-15214 November 2007
Beer money is a superb Hollywood ufo / comic / dude flick in the style of state trooper only far funnier, dry sublime acting and an a-list cast including the stunning mercedes mcnab. Classic moments involve Mark-Paul Gosselaar addressing mercedes bosoms for most of the movie to hilarious effect, the on running diarrhea gags will make you belly laugh, The amazing soundtrack is worth a listen alone if you are an extreme sports fan. definitely echoes its poorer cousin weird science and goonies but neither of those hold a candle to this stunning piece of cinematography

i'm surprised this movie doesn't rate in the top 250 charts but trust it will become a cult classic.

want to see a REALLY bad movie!!!
Dexter Babin17 July 2001
I saw the movie beer money not to long ago, it was introduced to me by a friend. Well this was not one of my friend's better movies. The thing i do not get out of the whole movie is why the paperboy's are bad poeple??? they kindnapped a guy and put his hair in a pan of milk,by the way i hated that scene . But the really stupid thing about this movie is they named it beer money but hardly talk about or drink much beer. I know they were going to sell the alien for beer money but it got out of hand. And I do not know why they had that shot in the begining of that movie when the guy put the dog's balls in his mouth. Anyway it was a USA original movie but I have seen alot better than this one. So by ending i say this movie has two kind of funney scenes in it besides that the film was a waste of time and money.

Good harmless fun...
frielfilms24 June 2001
Beer Money was a made-for-cable movie I tuned in on by accident. An hour and a half later i was still watching. In my opinion, the movie did it's job. I have to admit, I enjoy most Adam Sandler type movies, along with the early Jim Carrey flicks, and in that fashion Beer Money kept me laughing. The casting of the three goof ball friends was the key to this goofy script. These guys deliver in the movie. If you enjoy a movie that doesn't challenge you...you will enjoy Beer Money. If you didn't like it, you probably don't like that type of humor and just wanted to watch it in order to post a review that rips the movie. I wouldn't waste your time if I were you, this probably was never intended to be A.I. or E.T.

By the way, if you liked the bathroom scene from Dumb & Dumber, this rip-off scene from "Beer" will crack you up. They did a great job of keeping that scene funny.

Watchable movie when its a rainy day
secrective20 June 2001
This was a pretty good movie, it reminded me a lot of the "get a life" episode where chris elliot finds an alien that spews different liquids...

from the ninja-eggthrowing paperboys, to the scifi-paranoid guy who smells from both ends, at least this movie has some interesting charecters (with a couple funny gay porn jokes)...

anyways, if you catch this movie being reran, and there isint anything else on, give it a chance.

Not Bad.
joeym4288723 June 2001
The Only reason I watched it was because I'm a Fan of Mercedes McNab so I didn't really care what it was like as long as she was in it. But when I watched it I was really glad i did.

The guy from Saved by the bell was alright and Mercedes had some very very funny parts, but The rest of the cast you just don't really care about (Mainly Blank and that really big guy) due to how stupid they are!!

The plot was funny, and the acting was cool, so if you need to kill two hours and have fun doing it, check it out you won't be upset!!!

B+

Entertaining!
bordo31620 June 2001
The main reason I made an effort to catch this movie is because I've been a fan of Mark-Paul Gosselaar since "Saved by the Bell," but this was actually a pretty good movie. It's not classic piece of cinema that will win any awards but if you got two hours to kill, then "Beer Money" is the perfect way to take that time off your hands.

Low-brow fun
Laakbaar24 August 2003
I'm not ashamed to say that I enjoyed this funny and unpretentious flick. It falls into whatever genre "Dumb and Dumber" or "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" would belong to. What would you call that - "unselfconsciously stupid comedy"?. Nick von Esmarch (the wrestler from Nikki) is pretty good as the redneck party animal buddy. J.P. Manoux is hilarious as the snivelling sidekick. And if NYPD Blue has made you a Mark-Paul Gosselaar fan, you won't be disappointed. You see all of him here.

Just another bad movie
trutru24 June 2001
We all remember Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell. Now Mark-Paul Gosselaar just made a really bad movie. The first 20 minutes wasnt bad at all. I was actually laughing, but after the campsite scene the movie just went down hill and not slowly either, it went dont in a strait line. The plot was pretty stupid. It was a big let down like Dude Where's My Car? The only good move Gosselaar was in was Dead Man On Campus, which I expected Beer Money to be like. I wouldnt watch this movie again it was just that bad. The only other notable person in it was the character echo who was in Addams Family Values as the blond girl that led the thanksgiving play. Sorry Zack its back to school for you

Much Better then you would expect
pfbyers21 June 2001
A guy comes home after failing in the big city, immediately finds his old buddies and they decide to go camping. Meanwhile, he promises a cute girl that wasn't before in high school out on a date, but goes on the camping trip instead. While they are playing drinking games, a spaceship comes and drops off a weird alien. He wants to keep it, but his friend shoots it dead. With a title such as "Beer Money" appearing on such a quality cable network such as USA, one would have such rock-bottom expectations for this one. But it was pretty funny E.T. spoof, with its intended low-low brow humor. However, it is too long for its material. Worth a look.

Quite a funny movie
ringtailedlemur19 June 2001
I was flipping through on a summer's tusday night, when i saw a childhood icon. Mark-Paul Gosselaar makes his way back to the spotlight in quite a funny little movie. I'd suggest watching it, especially the part at the campground. I wouldn't worry about it, though, you know USA will play it a million times a week.

Funny jokes
Punk198 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Tim Maroon(Mark-Paul Gosselaar)has just returned back to his hometown after a few years of fruitless and disliked weatherman. During his home car ride he meets up with his high school buddies David 'Rut' Rutledge(Nick von Esmarch)and Neal Blank(J.P. Manoux). Soon all three friends are going on a camping trip which brings in a funny alien named Greenie(Gabriel Pimentel)who was left behind.

Now the three friends must get the alien back to the hills were he will be picked up by his people. And helping them along the way is Echo Olvera(Mercedes McNab). Oh and by the way, she has some sort of a to girlish charm for taking care of guys.

You'll find many funny gags, jokes and motions in this movie. A toilet scene(Think Dumb And Dumber)and a joke about some guy that farts from both ends. Oh and these guys think they will sell the alien to an alien show.

Calling All Saved By The Bell Fans!
MrSeaMunkie19 June 2001
It Was A Little "Child-ish" (the alien) but The Movie Was Pretty Funny. I Wouldn't Recommend It For Anyone Over 23. The Acting Was Great, The Script Was Okay. If You Have Time, You Should Check It Out, It's Not So Bad Of a Movie. If You Like This, You Should Like The Movie "Killer Bud" That Movie Was Kinda Like This. And Of Course If You Liked Saved By The Bell, You'll Like This Because The Guy That Played Zack Is The Star In This.

Good movie.
forksup2 May 2003
This tv movie was of the teen-college type genre I would say, and I loved it, kinda stupid, but good none the less. No real notable actors except Mark-Paul Gosselaar who played Zach on saved by the bell, and J.P manoux, who is in a lot of things. Also Imight add the writer for this also wrote "triple X or "XXX" and "XXX2"

This movie has potential to be a cult classic......

Beer money is dead broke!
afijamesy2k19 October 2001
Beer money is the most embarrasing movie and tv show I Can ever think of, This is a rip-off of e.t. meets goonies meets dawson's creek, the storyline: Three people found in alien on the crashed ship and they sell their alien to the television show, well they get there or not, this is not good, it has stupid characters, dumb performances and one of the worst special effects I Can think off, this is an appauling bad film and tv show, that goes to the top of my list next to emeril and according to jim for the worst of the year.
