I am an animation student (and this past year was in an animation class taught by the director of this film), and I must say I love "Call Me Fishmael." I got the Slamdance Film Festival DVD, and was disappointed to see that most of the films on there were boring and ridiculous, with no redeeming qualities. Among the good few was "Call Me Fishmael." The humor was subtle and clever, and one gets something new out of the cartoon each time. The character was only a stick figure, but the animation was great, proving a tired point that timing in character movement can sometimes be more important than a good drawing (and it is always important, no matter what). The stick figure, in its own right, was drawn well and brought to life quite well.
