Don Muraco was not originally planned to be a part of the main event. He was a substitute for "Superstar" Billy Graham, who was unable to compete due to his injured hip.
This event aired on Thanksgiving, the same day that the NWA aired their annual Starrcade (1987) event. In order to increase their buy-rate, the WWE threatened that any Pay-Per-View provider that provided "Starrcade" instead of "Survivor Series" would not be allowed to air the upcoming "WrestleMania" event.

On the Coliseum Video, during the tag team match The British Bulldogs' (The Dynamite Kid (Tommy Billington) and Davey Boy Smith) elimination is edited out. There is no mentioning of who eliminates them or how. For the record, the Bulldogs were eliminated after Haku (Tonga Fifita) pinned the Dynamite Kid at the 19:57 mark with a kick to the face after Dynamite had hurt himself doing a diving headbutt from the middle turnbuckle.
