Maroon 5 and Jimmy Fallon pulled a fast one on a bunch of New York City subway riders.
Adam Levine, guitarist James Valentine and the Tonight Show disguised themselves as bearded buskers, sporting hats and dark glasses to hide their famous faces.
The trio took to the subway station just below Rockefeller Center with tambourines, a guitar and a pair of microphones. They performed Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” with Levine, 38, disguising his voice by putting on a deeper tone.
Naturally, a sizeable crowd formed around the trio and many took out their cell phones to record the performers.

Adam Levine is known for his signature voice, but he still managed to fool a few local New Yorkers by going in disguise recently. During The Tonight Show on Tuesday, the Maroon 5 singer and his bandmate, James Valentine, joined host Jimmy Fallon as they put on fake beards and gave an impromptu concert in the subway station. While they managed to get an impressive crowd with their cover of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," fans really started storming when they started singing their hit, "Sugar." Watch it all unfold above.

Maroon 5 and Jimmy Fallon disguised themselves as bearded buskers and hit the New York City subways in a charming Tonight Show web video. Singer Adam Levine and guitarist James Valentine performed acoustic renditions of the group's 2014 hit "Sugar" and Queen's 1979 hit "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," with the late-night host assisting on tambourine.
During the Queen cover, most people walked by the performance disinterested – and totally oblivious to the musicians' true identities. (It also helped that Levine also masked his signature vocal style with a huskier, heavier tone.

Hundreds of musicians perform in the NYC subways every day, but not all of them are Maroon 5! Adam Levine and his bandmate James Valentine had some fun with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday’s Tonight Show.
The artists joined the host at the 50th Street/Rockefeller Center subway station where they wore long beards, shades, and hats as a disguise.
They then started busking in the underground station, as Levine, 38, sang along to Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.”
The group attracted a crowd, but when they took off their disguises the audience went wild as Levine broke into Maroon 5’s hit “Sugar.”
Levine isn’t the first Voice coach to participate in Fallon’s sketch. Back in June, Miley Cyrus performed in the same subway station with Fallon, singing her godmother Dolly Parton’s tune “Jolene.”

Freddie Mercury would have turned 70 this year. Unfortunately, the Queen frontman’s singular voice and songwriting talents were silenced 25 years ago, when he passed away from complications due to AIDS on Nov. 24, 1991.

Just because American Idol‘s Top 6 will cover “Arena Anthems” next Wednesday (8/7c on Fox) doesn’t mean we want a Jock Jams-type situation. (Not that there’s anything wrong with “Pump Up the Jam,” mind you.)

If anyone loves the 80's ... it's The Hoff! David Hasselhoff stopped by "American Idol" on Wednesday night and gave the audience a special treat when he took the stage to perform during the show's 80's night. Ryan Seacrest introduced the "Baywatch" alum and asked the actor what he remembered most from the decade. "I don't remember much about the 80's, but you know I had a great time," he laughed. The Hoff then swapped his suit jacket and tie for a pair of shades and a leather jacket, before launching into his set. The 62-year-old crooner began belting out a classic, Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". But it was Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" that sent the audience in a frenzy, bringing judges Harry Connick Jr, Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez to their feet! After the performance, The Hoff said his goal was just to...

Two late, great performers come back to life on a new album compilation from Queen. Queen and Michael Jackson sing together on the song "There Must Be More to Life Than This," just one of three previously unreleased songs from Queen frontman Mercury on "Forever Queen," due on Nov. 11. Mercury's first solo hit "Love Kills" with Giorgio Moroder also gets an unheard ballad version on the set, as does unreleased "Let Me In Your Heart Again" from Queen's "The Works" sessions. The rest of the single and double-disc releases are "a definitive collection of Queen’s timeless love songs," cobbled together by surviving members Brian May and Roger Taylor. The tracklist is made up of "things that we have collected together that are representative of our growth rather than the big hits,” said May in a release. Sunday Night seen the Queen Extravaganza arrive at the Newcastle Academy in the middle of a 15 date UK tour. It is the brain child of Queen drummer Roger Taylor who wanted to give his songs new life. The idea of a Queen tribute band is nothing original however this show is not designed to be a cheap second best. Some musical acts do particularly well out of covering classic songs, and Canadian big band crooner Michael Buble is probably one of the most infamous, and successful at repurposing and rearranging musical greats. With Michael Buble tickets likely to be on a lot of Christmas lists this year, considering the singer’s impending European tour, we’re looking back at some of the singer’s greatest cover moments, and celebrating the covers that actually improved on the original versions.
There’s no place for 2005 ballad Home, since Buble’s version pre-dates the probably more famous version cut by Westlife by two years, and the writing credit goes to Buble himself, rather than the Irish former pop kings, who were given the record to cover by Simon Cowell.
So which covers do make the list?

Following what Blake Shelton called the "best episode of The Voice we've ever had", spirited group performances on Tuesday night's show kept the energy up and distracted viewers just long enough from the business at hand – impending eliminations.
Christina Aguilera brought the heat with her song "Let There Be Love." Rascal Flatts shared their hit "Changed." Later, Adam Levine performed a rendition of Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," followed by the contestants taking on Pat Benatar's "Hit Me with Your Best Shot."
But once again, the decisions about who would stay and who would go were completely up to the viewers.

‘Tis the season for year-end best-of lists, but unfortunately for two contestants on NBC’s The Voice, cracking the prestigious ranks of the Season 3 Top 10 won’t be enough to keep them on our TV screens past Thanksgiving.
Also unfortunate? The way the show’s producers — and host Carson Daly — seemingly do everything in their power to vaccuum the suspense right out of the results-night telecast. Seriously, the way the show is paced and edited would be like making people stand in line for a roller-coaster, and then sending it along a track as flat as Christina Milian’s cue-card readings.

Included in the film are the band's live performances of "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "I Want to Break Free" and "We Are the Champions." The film is intro'd with a 25-minute documentary short that includes never-before-seen rare footage from rehearsals, interviews with the band in studio and candid moments on the road during the Magic Tour. The film will be shown as a very limited engagement nationwide on.

When you saw The Queen Extravaganza rock the American Idol stage a few weeks back everyone was begging for more. Now that begging can become reality as the official tribute band of Queen is officially on tour! Its so good that you can't miss it! I'll admit it that I have always wanted to see Queen but was never able to see the band when it was led by the iconic Freddy Mercury, but now thanks to The Queen Extravaganza I am getting a taste of what I have been missing! In a two-set show that runs just over two hours, the band performs nearly 40 Queen classics drawn from a list of the band’s biggest all-time chart hits: “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites The Dust,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Under Pressure,” “We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions,” “A Kind Of Magic,” “Radio Ga Ga,” “Somebody To Love” and “Killer Queen.

After taking some time to start a family (which involved giving birth to three boys), 24’s Sarah Wynter is coming back to acting full time, with her first big role in Season 6 of Showtime’s Californication. Normally, in these casting situations, I would be chomping at the bit to talk about whom Wynter is playing, but in this instance there isn’t much to really say. Currently there’s more information surrounding who Wynter’s character is married to, so don’t act all shocked when I barely talk about her. You’ve been fairly warned, so what do you say we dive into this thing?

According to Deadline, Wynter will be a major recurring character in Season 6, set to appearing in at least six episodes as the wife of rock star Atticus Fetch (Tim Minchin). That’s literally as far as we...

Though Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez will surely super-sing and hyper-emote their way through tonight's Top 2 performance show, American Idol's eleventh season has already left a trail of thoroughly professional, if not legendary performances. Fortunately, we''ve counted up the 11 that really, really ruled, and I'll tell you a secret: The top two performances on this list may be the two best in the history of the series -- aside from my darling Melinda Doolittle's "My Funny Valentine," of course. They're an astonishing pair of clips, and I hope reality competition scientists study them with microscopes and applause for decades.
Let's count down the 11 best, kids! Hurl your dissent in the comments, please.
11. DeAndre Brackensick, "Master Blaster"
The revisionism begins here, because I originally rated DeAndre's Stevie Wonder cover as a middle-of-the-pack entry that week. What was I thinking? This 1980 Stevie jam is such a weird, boppy, hokey, reggae,...

Exclusive: Sarah Wynter (24) has been tapped for a recurring role on the next season of Showtime’s dark comedy series Californication. The Australian actress will play the wife of rock star Atticus Fetch, played by another Aussie, Tim Minchin. Described as Bowie, Bono and Lennon rolled up into one, Fetch has been drafted to write the music for the Broadway musical A Crazy Little Thing Called Love, which is based on the hit romantic comedy of the same name adapted from Hank Moody’s (David Duchovny) breakthrough novel. Wynter, repped by Paradigm and Mosaic, is set to appear in at least six episodes. After scaling back work over the past four years to give birth to three boys, she is returning to acting full-time.

You can achieve so many moods with a suit, and with Hollie's look this week I wanted her to look clean, chic, and cool with just a simple black tank underneath. Her red suit and statement necklace tied the outfit together perfectly. I started off Hollie's fittings with simple gowns for "The Climb" and nothing seemed right. Since the beginning of the season I've had a black modern poodle skirt for Hollie. She pointed to it as a reminder and said, "What about that one?" I wasn't quite...

Dubious claims dropped faster and more frequently during American Idol‘s Top 6 performance show than J.Lo’s legendary backside in her latest music video. Phillip Phillips kidded that the U.S. government is running tests to make Jessica Sanchez’s voice even more poweful. Skylar is a “thick-boned” girl, noted Hollie (who’s been in this country — and in front of the Idol judges — long enough that she really ought to know the term “thick-skinned.”) And Randy Jackson claimed to have invented the word “ginormous“ right there at the judges’ table. (I know I’ve been suggesting for years...

Tonight! Our top six rock the songs of Queen! Or: Your recapper grimly counts down to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” And then the kids will sing other songs they feel like singing, just to stretch it to two hours because the producers of American Idol actively hate you. Now, Nikki Finke tells us that Ryan Seacrest was violently ill before tonight’s show started — one does not absorb the soul of Dick Clark without some unpleasant side effects — and that they were scrambling to find a fill-in. I’m going to put this out there: I have live television experience, I am a ten-minute drive from the studio, and I have been blessed with a naturally even skin tone that does not require makeup. Let’s do this, Nigel Lythgoe.Alas, we will not be doing this tonight, as Ryan has made a miraculous recovery (and is oddly huggsy...

I don't need to hear most Queen songs ever again. It's like Journey. Boring straight people feel cool for liking Queen and Journey, and we have to tolerate their late-onset realization of Freddie Mercury's immortality or Steve Perry's splendor like humorless chaperones. I just choose to ignore both catalogs now. Ugh. But rules are rules: If I had to perform this week on Idol, I'd choose "Under Pressure" for my Queen song (and totally key up the "Pushing down on me!" melodrama) and Jody Watley's "Looking For A New Love" for the Whatever song. I just want an excuse to wear a killer hoop earrings and coo "Hasta la vista, baby" to prudes like Skylar Laine. You understand.
Onto the rankings! The kids took on both a Queen song and a random song, and a few of them were startlingly good. That includes one mini-balladeer with chutzpah galore.

Here's a scary fact: Four out of the Top 6 "American Idol" contestants weren't even born when Freddie Mercury died in 1991, so expecting them to nail Queen classics might've been something of a stretch, especially since out of the remaining hopefuls, only Elise Testone truly qualifies as a rock singer.
Still, the "Idol" producers were apparently feeling sadistic tonight, so we got an hour of poor Queen imitations and an hour of contestants' choice -- which had the potential to be satisfying, since the wannabe Idols tend to excel when they're actually allowed to tackle culturally relevant tracks. We also had a sick Ryan Seacrest, who spent much of the hour looking like he was on the verge of throwing up or passing out (flashbacks to Hollywood Week, much?).
Read on to see who emerged as a champion and who bit the dust as we recap the Top 6's performances.

It's the songs of Queen on "American Idol" for the Top 6 and we are a bit skeptical about how that's going to go. Better or worse than Billy Joel week? Hmm. (Later, after we'd watched the whole show, we were impressed by how good this week was.)
Why is Jennifer Lopez dressed like Mc Hammer's genie? And boy, does Searcrest have some big hair tonight. Oh! We had not spotted Randy's "Yo" pin yet. Goodness. Steven Tyler is the most normally dressed judge, which is weird.
And then we kick things off with the Top 6 singing a medley alongside Brian May and Roger Taylor. Huh. Elise and Skylar sound great on their "Another One Bites the Dust" solo lines. We aren't sure anybody else really pulls this off.
1. Jessica Sanchez, "Bohemian Rhapsody"
The opening is certainly gorgeous for her voice. The creepy backup heads are not Ok, though. Holy crap.

American Idol was so stellar this evening, I can’t even find something sarcastic to say about the fact that the proceedings kicked off with the Season 11 Top 6 passing the mic for a medley of Queen’s greatest hits. Generations merged tonight as the “American Idol” hopefuls got a pep talk from Queen originals, and then opened the show performing a Queen medley with Roger Taylor and Brian May. It may have been one of the cooler things seen on the Idol stage. Then each singer sang a Queen song for their first performance of the night, with Stevie Van Zandt in the audience watching the show.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” was a deviation for Jessica, who was the first to sing.

If "American Idol" was decided by whoever received the most standing ovations from the judges, Joshua Ledet would have this year's competition in the bag.
Ledet racked up two more standing O's from the judges on Wednesday's (April 25) "Idol," which found the contestants singing two songs apiece: one from Queen, and another of their own choosing.
That brought Ledet's unofficial standing ovation season total to 12 — that figure according to Skylar Laine, who ribbed him backstage for receiving a dozen standing O's over the course of the season.
Ledet first got a rise out of the judges with his version of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," which caused Jennifer Lopez to ask, "Is it bad for me to say the Joshua part of the show...

It was only a matter of time before Californication got back to old dynamics. Hank is back on the sh*t list with Karen and daughter Becca.
In Episode 5.5, “The Ride-Along”, Becca and Karen learned that Hank may have been involved in the attack on Tyler. Now, it’s time to see how far Hank will fall down the rabbit hole of problems. As Hank continues to work with Samurai Apocalypse on “Santa Monica Cop”, he puts himself in greater danger of having his love affair with Kali, the girl who has stolen Sam’s heart, discovered. When that happens, expect gunshots to follow.
Although Hank is the center of attention, I’m more interested in what will become of Charlie’s warped love life. Does anyone think Charlie can find the same kind of happiness that ex-wife Marcy has discovered?
