The upfronts serve as a scorecard for the major agencies’ television departments. Here is our count for agency packages on the 39 new scripted primetime series ordered by the broadcast networks for the 2012/2013 season. Most of the agency totals include shared packages. Obviously, this is a very narrow snapshot of the TV agency landscape by omitting unscripted shows, returning series, and cable. We will start to expand our scorecard into those areas beginning next year. Wme – 20 (14 dramas, 6 comedies) The Neighbors, How To Live With Your Parents, Malibu Country, Last Resort, Mistresses, 666 Park Ave, Made In Jersey, Golden Boy, Vegas, Ben & Kate, The Following, Go On, The New Normal, Chicago Fire, Revolution, Hannibal, Infamous, Beauty & The Beast, Cult, Emily Owens, MD CAA – 16 (8 dramas, 8 comedies)* Malibu Country, Zero Hour, Nashville, Friend Me, Made In Jersey, Elementary, Goodwin Games, The Mob Doctor, The New Normal, Save Me, Animal Practice, Guys With Kids, Hannibal, Beauty & The Beast, »

"House," the medical drama that has also been a character study of a misanthropic genius doctor played wonderfully by Hugh Laurie, is coming to a close Monday, May 21 after eight seasons. Zap2it would like to take a look back at the strongest episodes of the series.
It was hard to narrow down, indeed. The show has always been fairly strong, with individual episodes that we'd put right up there with the best of any show. But here are the ones that made the cut.
"Three Stories," S1, E21
The first season of "House" was fine - but the show really took off with "Three Stories." House gives a lecture to a class of medical students, recounting three different leg injuries. Carmen Electra gives a rather delightful guest-starring turn and the viewers finally find out why Dr. House has his limp.
"No Reason" - S2, E24

Broadcast’s dog-and-pony shows in New York City are finally over, but the walk-up to the fall 2012-2013 lineup has only just begun. Before we start wringing our hands over Britney Spears’ emotional readiness to be a reality show judge, we have some knee-jerk reactions to what we saw and heard this week:
Biggest trend: Comedy explosion. There’s 29 sitcoms hitting the air this fall — and we’re not including Rock Center With Brian Williams. That’s an enormous number of couches, awkward dates and workplace misunderstandings. Tuesdays will be a three-network comedy traffic jam, while ABC and NBC will offload extra chuckles into Fridays. »

The CW is making some real changes this fall. In fact, every night of the network’s schedule will be different. Bet you expected The Carrie Diaries in the fall, right? The Vampire Diaries to be paired with Arrow, perhaps? Supernatural to stay on Fridays? Buzzzt!
In fact, airing Vampire Diaries on Thursdays at 8 p.m. is the only thing that’s staying the same in the fall. Even the network’s debut dates are going to be unique: The CW isn’t launching until October this year, getting out of the way of the other major broadcast networks that »

With the fall TV schedule now complete (below), we get to step back and take a look at the hellish battleground that broadcast hath wrought. There’s some very tough-to-predict match-ups this fall:*
Tim Allen vs. Whitney Cummings (Fridays, 8-9): “No, my show’s lamer!” ABC and NBC have their low-expectations comedies airing on Fridays this fall, and they might run head-to-head depending on when NBC launches (ABC’s comedies premiere in November). NBC has Whitney and Community and ABC has Last Man Standing and new comedy Malibu Country. (Community fans, if your ass beat by Reba McEntire and Lily Tomlin, »

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo playerThe upfront media caravan, loaded with cameras, camels and expectations, moved onto ABC's presentation in Manhattan Tuesday afternoon. The network heads into fall with several concerns: Dancing with the Stars has been registering fewer happy feet in the ratings - Jimmy Kimmel, in his annual standup appearance, suggested the only way you'll see stars on the show is if you bang your head - and Desperate Housewives, a long-running signature hit, just ended Sunday. Well, Paul Lee, president of the ABC Entertainment Group, quickly addressed those points on Tuesday afternoon: Revenge, which is as perfect as a primetime melodrama can be, »

Freshman hit 2 Broke Girls takes over the anchor spot on Mondays while Two and a Half Men moves to Thursdays behind The Big Bang Theory in the new CBS schedule unveiled today in New York. CSI: NY now opens Fridays and The Mentalist moves to Sundays behind The Good Wife.
There was some thought that CBS would go with a two-hour block of comedies on Thursdays but instead the block of Big Bang Theory and Men leads into Person of Interest and the new Sherlock Holmes-like drama Elementary. “We had the guns to go to four comedies,” admits CBS head of scheduling Kelly Kahl. »

NBC and ABC aren't too far apart in the race for second-to-last place, yet ABC's upfront presentation this afternoon didn't have the aroma of desperation that NBC's had yesterday. It was more upbeat, more self-assured -- and the executives' jokes were better and more natural than Fox's awkward and badly delivered one-liners. In addition to learning the value of showmanship, Vulture picked up a couple of other key lessons: 1. ABC Still Misses Lost The clip from 666 Park Avenue, a supernatural drama set in a fancy apartment building, ended with Lost's ominous thud sound. (And the show features Terry O'Quinn.) Last Resort, another intense drama about a renegade nuclear submarine, has a motley crew starting a new kind of life on a lush but dangerous tropical island. Yunjin Kim co-stars in Mistresses, the Alyssa Milano-led soap that will premiere next spring.2. Body mortification is hilarious.ABC's comedy sizzle reels »

ABC has released their 2012 Fall Primetime line-up, and along with the old, there are the new faces. Out of those new faces, there are four shows you may want to keep an eye out on. A couple look pretty good (“666 Park Avenue” looks sexy as hell), though the military drama “Last Resort” is really the only one we’ve been covering for a while now on the site. The other two don’t look too bad, though “Zero Hour”, with former “ER” alum Anthony Edwards, looks painfully generic. Of the four, only two have firm premiere dates, which are noted. Up first, “Red Widow” with Radha Mitchell as a mob wife who seeks revenge for her mob husband’s murder. I believe this is Mitchell’s first foray into regular TV work, though I could be wrong. Co-starring Luke Goss. Melissa Rosenberg (executive producer and head writer on “Dexter” and »

Here come ABC’s new trailers. The network has released clips from shows like Nashville, Mistresses and the unlikely recipient of the coveted Modern Family lead-in, the aliens-next-door comedy The Neighbors. ABC gave advertisers in New York City a first peak at the network’s 2012-13 season earlier today, now here’s your chance to check out all 10 new TV series trailers (personally, I’m digging the ethical murkiness of the Last Resort trailer, and suspect Mistresses might do well):

ABC really hopes viewers want to move to Nashville this fall.
Among its 2012-2013 pickups, the network has given the green light to this country music-based soap opera, which stars Connie Britton as Rayna James, a long-time singer whose popularity has been slipping.
Enter Hayden Panettiere's Juliette Barnes, an up and coming artist who goes on tour with Rayna… and who also has plans of her own that involve upstaging the veteran. Powers Boothe, Charles Esten, Eric Close, Clare Bowen as Scarlett, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio and Robert Wisdom also play roles on the upcoming drama.

Nashville will air on Wednesday nights at 10. Click around a few series premiere pics below and then also take your first look at new ABC programs Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue.

Hours before Madison Avenue buyers pile into Avery Fisher Hall for ABC’s upfront presentation Tuesday, Entertainment Group president Paul Lee took time to tout a collection of what he calls “delicious” and “brilliant” new shows. On the line for a conference call with reporters, the former BBC executive was back in superlative mode, peddling his 10 new series including country music drama Nashville, alien comedy The Neighbors and action drama Last Resort, which he insists tested “extremely well” with ABC’s core female viewers.
