"The Real World: San Diego" recap: "An End To The Endless Summer" (Ep. 12)

15 December 2011 1:04 PM, PST | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

And the end of yet another season of The Real World is here. Pretty soon you won’t be able to spit without hitting a former Real World cast member.

The episode opens with Nate and Frank preparing for their charity event, which will benefit the It Gets Better Project. Ashley is given the task of selling 50 tickets, and she runs off to the gym with Zach. Those two treat the gym like the Bubble Boy treats his sterilized plastic dome. It’s like if they don’t hit the gym from dawn to dusk, they’re afraid that they will catch a cold and die. Or even worse — get love handles.

Ashley gives some of the tickets to Zach, who sells none. Ashley only manages to sell four before hitting the treadmill again, because love handles are worse than death.

Survivor: South Pacific Insider: This Season's Big Bad Revealed!

14 December 2011 8:00 PM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Ladies and gentleman, we have ourselves a villain. Survivor: South Pacific has seen a lot of crazy, betrayal and resentment, but no real Russell Hantz-style rascal. Until tonight. Gather round as we tell this scary campfire story… In Xanadu Did Kubla Khan: As much as we love his bons mots, it was so unfair of Albert—the villain of tonight's tale—to shout directions to Edna during the duel, giving her a clear advantage over Ozzy. Fortunately for CBS' ratings, the Ozsome winning streak continued, and he returned to what Sophie calls Ozzy's Pleasure Dome, feeding and comforting each jury member after they've been voted out. Exclusive: Jake Kasdan Talks Bad Teacher Blu-ray

Jake Kasan directs Cameron Diaz in the hilarious comedy Bad Teacher, in stores this week

Bad Teacher Blu-ray + DVD combo pack, Blu-ray, and DVD are available in stores now. Jake Kasdan directs this hilarious hit comedy starring Cameron Diaz as Elizabeth, a drunk and disorderly educator hoping to land the sugar daddy of her dreams.

We recently caught up with Jake Kasdan to chat about this release, wet spots, and his hit series New Girl. Check out our conversation below.

Out of all the teacher movies made in the past couple of decades, Bad Teacher reminds me most of 1984's Teachers, with Nick Nolte. Why was that left off Elizabeth's personal collection of Educator-based VHS tapes that she uses for her curriculum?

Jake Kasdan: Part of it was...We wanted to look at the most ridiculous things she could be showing in class. Which is a slightly different criteria. »

Photo: Jake Gyllenhaall Deserves The Full Attention At 'Marilyn' Premiere

10 October 2011 1:06 PM, PDT | Celebsology | See recent Celebsology news »

Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Williams came together for her My Week With Marilyn premiere in New York Sunday night.

Everyone reported that Jake Gyllenhaall showed up to support his Brokeback Mountain co-star Michelle Williams as if they haven't seen each other in years. Jake fans will agree with me when I say, people, he is the godfather of Michelle and Heath Ledger's daughter Matilda! He is definitely in their lives and most likely sees them all the time.

The shock shouldn't be that he attended the event. Instead, it should be about his growing scruff. The actor looks better without it but overall, Jake just can't do wrong. Young and scrawny in Bubble Boy, rugged and jacked in Jarhead. We love him just the same.

Exclusive: Marley Shelton Talks Scream 4 Blu-ray

4 October 2011 4:34 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Marley Shelton plays Sheriff Dewey Riley's right-hand deputy Judy Hicks in Wes Craven's reboot of the popular series, available in stores now

Scream 4 is available on Blu-ray and DVD today. While this self-stated 'reboot' of sorts brings the original trio of Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette), Journalist Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and eternal victim Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) back to the town of Woodsboro for another mysterious round of "Guess the Killer", it also introduces a whole slew of new characters. What most of these characters have in common is that they eventually succumb to the deadly antics of the now iconic Ghostface killer. What makes Deputy Judy Hicks different is that she lives to see the end of the movie, becoming one of the few people to survive a Scream outing. We recently caught up with actress Marley Shelton, the actress who plays Judy, to discuss this luck of the draw. »

What are you, some kind of Astronaut?

24 August 2011 1:00 PM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Your challenge for the day should you choose to accept it is to use the following in conversation at some point: "Pappy told me about Poon but he never said anything about Poonanny, Pippy." Do it! Because today is the 10th anniversary of Bubble Boy of course, and such an occasion demands reverent observation. Where would we be without Bubble Boy? Would the world have ever learned to love all things Gyllenhaalic without it? Oh sure some might say that Jake Gyllenhaal owes his career to the cult of Donnie Darko, a film that flopped in theaters just two months later (perhaps a movie about planes falling out of the sky didn't stand a whole lot of a chance right after 9/11) but eventually went on to coil its little bunny-shaped permanent place in a distant corner of the cultural imagination all the same, but those in the know... well those »

Ratings: Chicago Code, Castle Up; Chuck Down

10 May 2011 9:48 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Fox’s The Chicago Code and ABC’s Castle were the only two shows to enjoy meaningful gains this Monday.

Leading out of the just-renewed House — which with 7.76 million viewers and a 2.9 rating was down in audience and matched last week’s season-low demo — Chicago Code copped 5.7 million viewers and a 1.7 rating, up 4 and 6 percent, respectively. Castle meanwhile dominated the 10 o’clock hour with an audience of 12.6 million and a 3.1 demo rating, up 4 and 7 percent.

Elsewhere this Monday:

8/7c | Dancing With the Stars topped the night with 20.2 million viewers and a 4.1 rating, down slightly week-to-week. How I Met Your Mother (6.4 mil/2.5) tied its series-low demo, »

Ratings: House and Five-0 Hit Lows, Lola Grows Again, Game Of Thrones Hits High

House is ailing a bit.

The yet-to-be-renewed Fox medical drama this Monday drew 8.5 million total viewers — on par with its last outing — but dropped 9 percent in the demos to a new season-low rating of 2.9, TVByTheNumbers confirms. Physician, heal thy Nielsens?

While much Monday fare experienced similar slips, a few shows chalked up Ws. Bubble boy Chuck, for example, gained 8 percent in the demo (1.4) while drawing 4.1 million viewers. Both of CBS’ 8 o’clock hour comedies, How I Met Your Mother (6.7 mil/2.7) and Mad Love (5.8 mil/2.2), were up (8 and 10 percent, respectively). And NBC’s Law & Order: La (4.8 mil/1.4) enjoyed a second straight »
