Storyline

Billy Longman is not a loser, it's just that he doesn't have much experience with the opposite sex. After all, most of the girls in college weren't interested in dating a sixteen year-old child prodigy. Even after college, Billy never seemed to find the right girl for him. All of that changed when Billy met Karen, a beautiful young medical student. Unfortunately, Billy takes two years to find the right moment to tell Karen how he feels. When he finally does, he's crushed to learn that she doesn't feel the same way about him. Broken-hearted, Billy looks for 'help' from his three best friends; Kevin, the misogynist from Boston; Brad, the trust-fund baby who NEVER has any romance problems; and Jimmy, the struggling improvisational actor who's even more pitiful with women than Billy. Despite their best efforts, Billy's luck doesn't change much. Things get even worse when dorky Jimmy stumbles upon Mae, the love of his life, leaving Billy to face the world of dating with only Kevin and Brad... Written by Anonymous

That's Life...
1 November 2001 | by (chicago) – See all my reviews

I saw the movie "Liar's Club" during a screening in Chicago. For single guys living in Chicago (or any other urban locale), I thought the script showed an accurate portrayal of what 20-something guys do with their lives. Play pickup hoops, go to bars, talk a lot of smack about picking up chicks, and occasionally get some action (some of course, more than others).

Bob Marley was funny. And Elisa Donovan from "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" is a total doll (I wanted to see more of her on camera).

Although not ready for an Oscar nomination, I thought the acting and directing was quite promising, especially knowing the budget they were working under during the filming. A light-hearted romantic comedy about guys trying to figure out the game of life...I've been there myself and could totally relate.
