A heartbreaking story with splendid performance and direction
Pushpanjali (1972) is a remake of the Bengali movie Uttarfalguni (1963). The story is heartbreaking and tells the sacrifice of a father for his child's upbringing. Prem Nazir as both the father and the son played the dual role with perfection. It was so perfect that most of the time you forget that the two men are the same person. Shashikumar who directed the film did a commendable job in presenting the story in a very compelling as well as in well restrained manner. The story moves well and as it progresses it gets more interesting. I have seen many Prem Nazir's movies and I think this is one of best performances. T.S Muthayya as the lawyer, friend and guardian of Sadhina, daughter of Kaviyoor Ponnamma gave a splendid performance.
