This isn't a bad movie, it's just not great. And Montreal filling in for New Orleans is OK, I guess. That's what happens when a production company films in Canada on the cheap.
But the real problem is the writing and direction. Monica Arnold is no actress, she needs to stick to singing, that's where her real talent is. She's the reactive type actress, she puts nothing into the role. Definitely because she has no range. The movie suffers because of her. I mean she's worse than Shelley Hack. The male lead, Christian Kane is OK, not bad for having no formal training as an actor, but this is where he needed direction, and didn't get any. The only real "name" actor in this was Vanessa Bell Calloway (What's Love Got to Do with It?), who didn't really have much of a chance to shine here. Essence Atkins and Rachel True as her college roommate chums are very annoying, what with that trite dialogue they have to speak. I think this movie needed a more experienced female lead, and Canadian filming locations cuts down on big names appearing in these type productions. I just didn't get the idea that they were a couple either, I mean Christian and Monica had no chemistry. OK, if you're not a very demanding viewer.
