Four women from very different backgrounds think the only thing they've got in common is the fact that they're sharing a maternity ward. However, as things get tense and emotions spill overboard, each reveals a little more about herself and suddenly they're not so different. Great teledrama that brings together four of Australia's most respected female performers; if you get a chance, see this one. Hazlehurst is in her finest form since FRAN, fifteen years previously. It's difficult to believe, eight years later, that the network responsible was Channel 9, whose local drama now extends to such daring enterprises as THE ALICE, McLEOD'S DAUGHTERS and UNDERBELLY, and which, of course, has since been sold (via PBL Media) to the equity vultures at CVC Asia-Pacific: in 2008, its natural place would be the ABC. Who killed Channel 9 indeed?
