The “S.W.A.T.reboot at CBS is heating up.

The pilot that already has A-list talent behind the camera has just cast Bond girl Stephanie Sigman in a starring role, Variety has learned exclusively.

Sigman is the first cast member to sign onto the reboot, which is based on the movie of the same name. The pilot follows a locally born and bred S.W.A.T. lieutenant who is torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a highly-trained unit that’s the last stop for solving crimes in Los Angeles. Sources say CBS is nearing a deal with an actor for the lead lieutenant role.

Sigman will play Jessica, who’s described as ambitious and fastidious, and has earned her high rank at S.W.A.T. headquarters.

Variety is reporting that CBS has picked up a pilot for a reboot of the classic 70s TV series S.W.A.T., with Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond) set to direct the pilot from a script by Aaron Thomas (Friday Night Lights). Lin and Thomas will also executive produce alongside Shawn Ryan, Marney Hochman, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Danielle Woodrow.

The reboot “follows a locally born and bred S.W.A.T. lieutenant who is torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a highly-trained unit that is the last stop for solving crimes in Los Angeles.”

The original S.W.A.T. ran for two seasons on ABC between 1975 and 1976, and followed a team of Special Weapons and Tactics operatives working in California. CBS has picked up a pilot for “S.W.A.T.,” a drama based on the film, which was inspired by the 1975 TV series of the same name, Variety has learned.

The series follows a locally born and bred S.W.A.T. lieutenant who is torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a highly-trained unit that is the last stop for solving crimes in Los Angeles.

Aaron Thomas wrote the pilot, and will serve as executive producer, along with Shawn Ryan, Marney Hochman, Neal Moritz, Pavun ShettyDanielle Woodrow and Justin Lin, who will direct the pilot. The hot project hails from Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios.

The original “S.W.A.T.” series, produced by Aaron Spelling, ran for two seasons on ABC in the mid ’70s. The 2013 movie, based on the TV show, starred Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell, LL Cool J, Michelle Rodriguez and Jeremy Renner.
