Bunim-Murray Prods. Signs Production Deal with WikkedCat Entertainment

Bunim-Murray Productions has signed a production deal with WikkedCat Entertainment, Variety has learned.

Under the new pact, Bunim-Murray will have exclusive access to WikkedCat’s unscripted series, with an emphasis on creating celebrity-centric reality franchises.

WikkedCat, the production company formed by Stella Bulochnikov and Brian Sher, is behind VH1’s “T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle,” currently in its fifth season, plus its spinoff “Tiny & Shekinah’s Weave Trip” and Christina Milian’s E! series “Turned Up,” which is shooting its second second.

Currently, a slew of unscripted projects and specials are in development at WikkedCat with high-profile talent, including Mariah Carey, Lil Wayne and Mel B.

Just over a month ago, Sami Zayn’s Road to Redemption came to its epic culmination. After a fantastic battle with Adrian Neville at Nxt Takeover: R Evolution, everyone’s favourite flat-cap-clad superstar finally won the “big one” and was crowned Nxt Champion.

But despite this, Zayn isn’t yet the household name that he realistically deserves to be. As such, there’s still a fair bit that we don’t know about him.

Herein lies the problem with Nxt. Of course, I’m being exceptionally picky here—we all know that there’s nothing inherently wrong with Nxt per se. In fact it’s pretty close to perfect (never change, ­­­Nxt, never change). But the fact remains that without a spot on network television, the Floridian developmental territory simply doesn’t get the same kind of publicity as the Raws and SmackDowns of this world.
