A hopelessly nerdy computer programmer transforms his miserable and empty life into a virtual reality in which he and his virtual acquaintences (of the "electric tribe") manifest their psychotic behaviour. Besides his computer skills, our hero's only other notable characteristic is his mastery of the incorporation of crude speech into every other sentence he utters (a trait shared by others in the film).
The actors really get into this virtual sub-culture very well -- as if some of them may have been there. Nevertheless, their experience and realism don't even start to overcome the horrid storyline.
