In real-life Megyn Price is only 12 years older than her show-daughter Lynsey Bartilson.
Jake Burbage (Henry) moved back east with his family in 2004. Instead of writing him out or recasting the role, and since Claudia became pregnant, the producers decided to continue the season with one fewer kid. The show was originally pitched with the title "Don't Get Me Started". However, when no one was happy with that name, network and production company executives began to pitch new titles. Suggestions included "The Young Parent Show" and "Egg, Sperm - Now This" before settling on "Grounded For Life".
In one episode, they talk about "Aunt Dierdre". Donal's (Sean Finnerty) twin in real life is named Dierdre.
The character of Walt Finnerty (played by Richard Riehle) was born in 1947.
