Storyline

Irish Catholic couple Sean and Claudia Finnerty live in Staten Island, New York, with their three children, Lily, Jimmy, and Henry. They get into all sorts of trouble, usually because of Sean's brother, Eddie, who's got connections all over town. Sean and Eddie's father, Walt, often drops by and shares in the disaster. Most adventures are later recalled and they find out exactly what happened, like when the family car was supposedly stolen or when Sean's credit card was mysteriously maxed out, and even when Sean causes a blackout on Super Bowl Sunday. All this and more, and because Sean and Claudia were young and carefree when they got married and had kids, they are now grounded for life, so to speak. Quotes

Young Sean: Dad, can I have an Evel Knieval stunt cycle for Christmas?
Walt: No. You are not getting Evel Knieval. You're getting pants and a yo-yo. And you better act surprised!
Eddie: [Back to present day] I remember that Christmas. I got a dictionary and a vest.
Sean: At least you didn't get beamed with a yo-yo for not acting surprised.

There aren't many sitcoms worth watching on TV, but 'Grounded For Life' is the exception. A fresh approach, an intelligent look at family life, and a wry sense of humor bring 'Grounded' head and shoulders above the other lame competitors in the field.

Are there other original sitcoms out there... yes, if you search long and hard. But this brings together elements that haven't seen the little screen and leave you screaming with laughter.

The buzz is low but good on this one. I encourage everyone to watch it, otherwise another bright, intelligent bit of TV will bite the dust.
