Delhi has steadily maintained its image as one that is extremely unsafe for women. In between, thanks to the Common Wealth Games, the spotlight shifted to corruption but with the latest Delhi Marathon 2010, its back to its past stature. The victim this time was none other than the actress who is a sports enthusiast, Gul Panag, who has never missed an opportunity to put her fitness regime to test. On Sunday, 21st November, when Gul Panag participated in Half Marathon held in Delhi, she was groped by the men standing at the starting point. They took advantage of the crowd to feel her up and the actress was obviously quite taken aback by the whole indecent act. It was a typical women-in-crowded-places syndrome and Gul being the fighter, instead of letting this event disturb her more than required, went ahead with the marathon and completed the run. In horror films, old dark houses have their place, but as hell is other people apartments are far spookier
In Dream Home, the owners of the flat on which Josie Ho is about to exchange contracts suddenly jack the price up beyond her reach, so she goes on a killing spree in the apartment block. Who can blame her? As anyone who has ever been gazumped, gazundered or gaziddled can attest, being cheated out of the property on which you've set your heart is enough to make anyone think bad thoughts, though I'd like to believe not many of us would go as far as Josie in the disembowelling and penis-lopping stakes.
I'm surprised there aren't more slasher movies set in flats. Tenants or flatmates can bring out the psycho in all of us simply by using electric drills in the middle of the night (Michael Keaton in Pacific Heights »

Grab hold of your chakras we're heading into the spirit world. On October 16th, San Francisco's Bird By Snow hiked three miles up to a secluded wooded grove in Big Sur, taking a few instruments and a toy Japanese camera with them into the fog. They came to a big oak tree and crafted a uniquely percussive sculpture from fallen branches (along with some twine, home-made ceramic chimes and a cymbal), and raised it in the boughs of the oak. This became the rhythmic centerpiece of a transcendent live performance series which we have here for your contemplation.
Friend of the band, Noël Vietor, documented this ascension with the toy camera, which adds a kind of mystical charm all it's own. Watch these Druids conjure music where there had been only whispers in the mist.
Bird By Snow are Fletcher Tucker, Spencer Owen, and Rob Little. They're wearing shirts which »

Seems like after the Ar Rahman tragedy, as far as the anthem for the Common Wealth Games goes, many from the Bollywood singing fraternity are ready to pitch in to make this event a grand one. The first to be approached is Sukhwinder Singh who has given some real gems to Bollywood. Sukhwinder has now been approached to sing his most popular song 'Kawa Kawa' from Monsoon Wedding for the closing ceremony of the Common Wealth Games. Ar Rahman is also performing the Oscar winning 'Jai Ho' for the opening ceremony of the Games. But with such negativity surrounding the games, Kailash Kher made it a mission to fuse some positive energy. Along with Naresh and Paresh Kamath (the members of his band Kailasa), Kailash composed a song called 'Yaaron Jashn Manao' appealing to the people of India to celebrate the Games, rather than condemn it. It was hot news that renowned music composer A R Rahman composed the anthem for the soon to be held Common Wealth Games; however, the song failed to impress. Now we hear that music composer and singer Anand Raj Anand will also be composing two songs for the Cwg. If what we hear is anything to go by then the two songs titled - 'Invitation' and 'Celebration' - have a common slogan - Come out and play, with the first being a heart warming track and the second is said to be a foot tapping peppy number. Both the songs are said to have a thick Punjabi flavour with loads of energy. What's more, Anand will also be performing the songs at the opening ceremony of the games. Two music videos will be released on September 24, while the audio CD will be released by Times Music. »

Enough has been said about the Common Wealth Games this year to be held in Delhi. Right from corruption to shady jobs and sportsmen backing out, many hurdles have come in the organising of the whole show. However, one thing that everyone was positively looking forward to was the motivational and energetic Common Wealth Theme song to be composed by the revered A R Rahman. The conference where the song was to be launched, well, didn't have the song but the details about it. The reason was that back then the Cwg committee wanted the song to be tweaked and releasing it without the necessary changes would've been foolhardy. Despite all this, everyone was expecting a highly inspiring anthem from Rahman, given his current status in world music. However, after the song came out on the internet, the response was far from encouraging. Rahman fans weren't just disappointed, they were actually shocked. »

This is where funny gets funnier. There have been endless speculations and criticism following the Common Wealth Games (Cwg) right from incongruous work to corruption, that any and every ray of light seems spectacular. No wonder then that when a press conference was called announcing the composition that would be the Anthem for the Cwg the media was abuzz. Ar Rahman whose composition would've been unveiled at this P.C. was especially flown down for the event. But the organising committee blew this one as well when they decided last minute to withhold the song for reasons unknown. After being urged by the media, Rahman did sing one line from the anthem "O Yaron Yeh India Bula Diya". It was last Sunday that the Group of Ministers had approved the Rahman's song after a meeting which was headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. It was a song that took the »
