Rein Schaambergen leaves church with the mysterious Henk J. Pal, who's car explodes before he can tell him what he wants. Later Pal shows up at the Schaambergen home, but Rein has gone out to a bar.
Rein meets would be pop-star Ingrid Gortebroek In café 't Ouwe Lulleke and spends the night with her. The next evening he puts his job on a the line by acting inappropriately during a teacher - parent meeting.
Rein makes sure Ingrid's record is recorded as fast and cheap as possible. Afterwars she plans to call herself 'Zillah'. Loes de Wilde invites everybody to her musical party.
During Loes de Wilde's party, Ingrid falls head over heels in love with one of Loes' singing nephews, Maarten. But Rein is reunited with Ria and, in an even more touching moment, Sjef van Oekel with Gé Braadslee.
Many things have changed. Nearly all the characters have been given work at a large office, even though their exact jobs remain a mystery even to them.
Henk J. Pal claims to be the rightful heir to the Dutch throne. Former priest Bert van Zuthpen now works as an office boy. Rein has become a private detective as proposed by Boy Bensdorp.
Rein offers to investigate the background of Loes de Wilde's new husband Jaap Gasconge. The English bigwigs come over to visit the office even though nobody knows what it is actually for.
Mr. Carrington has fallen in love with Ria and decides to fire van Zanten so he can put her in charge of the office. Henk J. Pal is making plans to make the Netherlands into a square under his rule.
Sjef and Henk visit Otto in hospital disguised as doctors, and Irene sneaks in dressed as a nurse. Jacques Plafond is overseeing the start of the Lachende Scheerkwas theater show.
Gé is pregnant, but by whom? Loes has bought a new car for Otto, who still hasn't recovered from the accident he had in the last one. Everybody gets up to sing a song during the Lachende Scheerkwast premiere, to the dismay of J. Plafond.
