Trivia

Although Harvey Keitel plays SS-Oberscharfuhrer Eric Muhsfeldt, Keitel himself is of Jewish-Polish heritage.
A 90%/scale reproduction of the Auschwitz/Birkenau death camp was constructed near Sofia, Bulgaria, for the shooting of this film. The actual plans for the original Auschwitz camp were used to build the set.
Though she was a central character, the little girl did not speak during the entire move, though she does narrate the closing lines.
Jeff Danna who is the credited composer did not score the movie. There is no score in the actual film but he did write music for the title and end credit sequences. He also arranged a classical piece used as source music.
