I wasn't exactly a fan of the first Fear Effect game and sold it because of its lack of gameplay and longevity, but this prequel is a HUGE improvement.
It received a lot of attention from the revelation that the main two female characters would be more than just good friends. But if you bought this game expecting a lesbian peep show you will be disappointed as the physical relationship between them lies mainly off screen.
Anyway its the gameplay which matters most and with plenty of weapons and 4 characters there's plenty on offer. The main letdown for this work of art is the real time inventory which can annoy when you cannot find the right weapon in the middle of a gun battle.
Overall Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix is a smooth and mature adventure game from Eidos with brilliant voice acting this game is a comedy/thriller/adventure all in one and at times can feel like a real movie.
8 out of 10 - Hopefully be seeing Fe3 on the PS2
