That's What Survival Horror Is
3 January 2012 | by (Ukraine) – See all my reviews

Born Twice - that's how the title of this movie is translated.

What do the creators of survival horror games know about survival horror? What do you know about survival horror that makes you look fifteen years older in about four days? Monsters and mutants? Nope. The horror in this movie is simple - cold, hunger, solitude and an airplane hunter.

What's the motivation to survive? No pathetic unbelievable crap about the Motherland and Stalin in this movie, not a word about communism. Survive for the friends and brothers in arms, survive for the family, survive for yourself. Stay a human being no matter what, stand up and fight, wake up and walk.

I recommend this movie so much - this is not just another Soviet movie soaked with propaganda. This is not another meat-grinder ala contemporary war movies - no gore and blood splashes. This is a story of a boy who got old over a few days. The boy who survived the horror not because he's some Bruce-Willis-Die-Hard type of hero, but mostly because he never accepted the thought of giving up. There's much to learn from him. I do hope that my review will help you guys make the right choice and watch this movie.

P.S. Gave it 9 out of 10 because of sound track.
