The trailer for Rob Zombie’s latest film ’31’ promises bloody carnage

15 June 2016 8:10 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Rob Zombie though more famous as a rock singer has for the last decade or so been moonlighting as a film director. His offerings have all been strongly in the horror vein, with each getting more twisted and demented as they go. His latest offering 31 looks to be his bloodiest project yet if the new trailer is anything to go by.

The film is set at Halloween (of course) and sees five unsuspecting carnival workers kidnapped and subjected to a night of living Hell. Their tormentors are a gang of maniacs dressed as clowns, a staple villain of Zombie’s films. Definitely not one for the coulrophobics.

31 again stars Zombie’s wife Sheri Moon Zombie, this time as the heroine. Also back for another collaboration is Malcolm McDowell who plays a character called Father Murder, we’re guessing he might be one of the bad guys.

Given that Zombie had previously been responsible for films as bleak and horrific as The Devil’s Rejects, The Lords of Salem and House of 1000 Corpses we can only imagine what stomach-churning sights await us.

31 arrives in the Us on 16th September with a UK date still to be announced.

'31' trailer: Rob Zombie's latest horror show is a defiant statement of artistic will

14 June 2016 12:37 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Rob Zombie made a definite statement with his gruesome, sun-dappled 2005 bandit-horror film The Devil’s Rejects, which suggested there was real talent and narrative sophistication lurking beneath the shock-show antics of his debut effort The House of 1000 Corpses. It was decidedly not a movie for everyone, but it garnered critical plaudits from such respected critics as Roger Ebert and Salon’s Andrew O’Hehir, and even Quentin Tarantino and Stephen King chimed in their approval by naming it one of their favorite films of the year. And then Halloween happened. Unlike a lot of folks, I actually appreciate what Zombie tried to do with that remake, even if demystifying Michael Myers was ultimately the wrong approach to take. The end product was famously an overcrowded mess, with a first half that unconvincingly tried to explain Myers’ rise by placing him in a stereotypical “white-trash” scenario and a latter half that squashed the plot of John Carpenter’s original into less than an hour of screentime. The superior second film was a purer distillation of Zombie’s artistic vision, but its box office underperformance suggested that fans of the franchise had come away too dispirited by its predecessor to bother showing up. For my money, Zombie is a talented filmmaker who would probably be better off commercially if he directed scripts written by other people. The fact that he won’t is a testament to his hellbent belief in his own vision, and you have to respect that even if you aren’t a fan of the movies he puts out. Speaking of which, the trailer for Zombie's latest effort, the Sundance-debuted gore flick 31, appears to be more of the same, which — if you’re a fan of what that entails — will no doubt come as a welcome invitation. For the rest of us, the Saw-meets-Hunger Games premise, filtered through Zombie’s redneck-carnival-funhouse aesthetic, is probably a pass.  31 hits VOD on September 16 and theaters on October 21. Rob Zombie’s 31 Debuts A Trailer

14 June 2016 11:35 AM, PDT | Destroy the Brain | See recent Destroy the Brain news »

I’ll be honest, I think House of 1000 Corpses is, for better or worse, the most true product when Rob Zombie is in the director’s chair. While I personally like the film and think that it is his best film, there are plenty who would disagree. The reason why I love House of 1000 Corpses so much, even though it cribs heavily from two of Tobe Hooper’s earlier films, The Funhouse and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is that it feels like Rob Zombie at that point of time. Yes, it has music video asthetics but it also has a raw feeling to the film and it doesn’t adhere to any film standards. It’s odd, kinetic and, at times, harrowing. It is a nightmare encapuslated in a film presentation.

I enjoyed The Devil’s Rejects and felt that it was a step in the right direction for traditional film directors, but it also lacked what I loved about House of 1000 Corpses. It also introduced more of Zombie’s writing which, I think everyone can admit, needs some work. I have pretty much written off his Halloween and I have never seen the sequel. The Lords of Salem is definitely another entry that I think is on the same level as The Devil’s Rejects, if not better. However, it does suffer from the issues that I think most people have with Zombie’s films – Sherri and his dialogue for his characters.

Regardless, Zombie is a unique voice in the genre and people either love or hate him. I’ll take that over someone who is pretty vanilla. This September, Zombie’s new film 31 will hit screens in a limited release. Check out the trailer below.

Rob Zombie's 31 Trailer Is Finally Here

14 June 2016 10:13 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Last week, Saban Films debuted a new poster for director Rob Zombie's upcoming horror-thriller 31, which will hit theaters just before Halloween. Today, the studio has unveiled the first full trailer for this highly-anticipated movie, which comes nearly two years after the first trailer was released. Now that the project has distribution and a release date in place, we can surely expect to see much more from 31 in the months ahead.

From the visionary mind of the man who brought us House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects and Halloween comes the horrific story of five carnival workers who are kidnapped the night before Halloween and held hostage in a large compound. At the mercy of their captors, they are forced to play a twisted game or life or death called 31. For the next 12 hours they must fight for their lives against an endless parade of homicidal maniacs.

31 stars Rob Zombie's wife Sheri Moon Zombie, along with Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, Lew Temple, Meg Foster and Malcolm McDowell. The supporting cast includes Elizabeth Daily, Daniel Roebuck, Tracey Walter, Ginger Lynn-Allen, Judy Geeson, Torsten Vorges, Jane Carr and Jeffrey Daniel Phillips. Richard Brake's character Doom-head has been called the next great horror villain by the director, but we'll have to wait and see how audiences respond to this character.

Rob Zombie is directing from his own screenplay and producing with Andy Gould, Matthew Perniciaro, Michael Sherman, Eddie Vaisman and Mike Elliott. Saban Films has set an October 21 release date for 31, putting this movie in a highly-competitive weekend where six other movies are currently slated to open in wide release. Also opening on October 21 is Paramount's Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Lionsgate's horror-comedy Boo! A Madea Halloween, 20th Century Fox's comedy Keeping Up With the Joneses, Focus Features' A Monster Calls, Universal's Ouija: Origin of Evil and PureFlix's drama I'm Not Ashamed.

31 was originally slapped with an Nc-17 rating by the MPAA back in December 2015, and even after Rob Zombie submitted a re-edited cut, the MPAA still gave the film an Nc-17 rating. After another round of edits, the MPAA finally gave the movie an R rating this past January, for "strong bloody horror violence, pervasive language, sexual content and drug use." It's possible that Rob Zombie will release a gore drenched director's cut sometime in the future. Until then, check out the new trailer for Rob Zombie's 31. »

First Trailer for Rob Zombie's Horror '31' About a Creepy Carnival Game

14 June 2016 10:13 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"All you have to do is survive 12 hours of our own private hell." Saban Films has debuted a trailer for Rob Zombie's latest horror film 31, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The plot involves five carnival workers who are kidnapped and held hostage in an "abandoned, Hell-like compound where they are forced to participate in a violent game, the goal of which is to survive twelve hours against a gang of sadistic clowns." Starring Sheri Moon Zombie (but of course), Malcolm McDowell, Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges, Sandra Rosko, and Meg Foster. This looks like Zombie's typical over-stylized mix of gore and weird, gross shit. Not my cup 'o tea. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Rob Zombie's 31, direct from Saban Film's YouTube: From the visionary mind of the man who brought us House of 1000 Corpses and Halloween »

31 Takes You on a Tour of Murderworld in this First Exciting Trailer

14 June 2016 9:51 AM, PDT | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

Saban Films has released the first trailer for Rob Zombie's 31. The clip is vicious, violent and dark - in tone. The film, which has had difficulties with the ratings board (according to Quiet Earth), is set to release in mid-September. Starring Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) and Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, fans of horror are encouraged to take a look at this grisly trailer. From the synopsis, five carnival employees are kidnapped and held hostage in Murderworld. Taken on Halloween, they must survive for 12 hours, against a group of murderous maniacs. But, in Murderworld, there are no exits. 31 is the first film, from Zombie, that this horror fan is excited to see, since House of 1000 Corpses (2003). The dark lighting and malevolent tone set the stage for an interesting title. Also, the villainous characters, many of whom are clowns, bring a sinster side, to a film that will hopefully impress. More on 31 is available below. Release Date: September 16th, 2016 (VOD)...

Rob Zombie rose to fame as the founding member of the ’80s heavy metal band White Zombie. They released four albums between 1987 and 1995; their debut record “Soul-Crusher” was particularly acclaimed, especially by musicians like Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth. He briefly focused on his solo work before shifting his attention to directing horror films. Some of his previous credits include “House of 1000 Corpses” and its sequel “The Devil’s Rejects,” the remake of “Halloween” and its sequel “Halloween II,” and “The Lords of Salem.”

“31” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. It will be released on VOD platforms on September 16th and in a limited theatrical release on October 21st.

Before Rob Zombie became an acclaimed horror director with such cult hits as House Of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects and The Lords of Salem, he was an acclaimed rock musician who directed his own music videos. Today, he returns to that realm with a new music video/short film called Everybody's (bleeping) in a U.F.O. And it's pretty insane!

This creepy sci-fi extravaganza stars a host of special guests and musicians including Rob Zombie himself, who takes the lead.
