Based on the Dutch series, thirteen strangers who are living in a studio-like house that's filled with cameras and microphones, compete in a series of physical and mental stunts, and some challenging trivia at a chance at $500,000 in this reality soap opera-like summer program. Thirteen of those house guests live in 13 different states. America will watch every single move they compete to be the last one standing, after having twelve house guests evicted. These strangers are the contestants who think they have absolutely nothing in common, and a few are in a shock for their lives. The house guests begin to introduce other people at the Big Brother house. It's the first time they will get to know each other and they're not allowed to say not one word with them until they are in the Big Brother house. The thirteen will be living in the same house for the following two months. They may either find their best friend or worst enemy in that group; and in the end, it's one men for themselves... (2nd Season) Oh, brother, what an improvement
11 July 2002 | by (anaheim, ca) – See all my reviews

I didn't mind the first season. Decent characters, though somewhat boring. Hey, Jamie was gorgeous and basically kept me coming back. But for this second season, the producers answered the critical drubbing that dealt with the show's lack of punch. Here they assembled a much more backstabbing, plotting, and simply put, bunch of jerks and bitches that the show couldn't help be better. I can honestly say I didn't like anybody, but that's what held my interest, waiting to see what stunt would be pulled next. You start with Justin, a chipped-tooth New Yawker who always talked like he just stumbled out of a bar. I had no trouble seeing him leave first, although the circumstances were stupid. He held a knife to a housemates throat as a joke, which the producers deemed inappropriate enough for banishment. Whatever. There was Sheryl, not around long, but sensible enough. And not too bad lookin' for an older chick. Autumn was a wishy-washy emotional wreck who never really found a footing. Will was the conniving stud doctor who was one of the more compelling contestants, never knowing what he was capable of. Hardy was yet another ripped beachboy, straight from a Playgirl cover, but with a brain. He schemed pretty good along the way. Kent was the token father figure who right off the bat exhibited an attitude. But when paired up with the obligatory gay guy, Bunky, the two created some of the most memorable laughs during the show's run. Kent, who at first was a big homophobe, coming to enjoy the company and joking around with a guy his total opposite. Krista was the southern belle with the husky voice who seemed to go back and forth between allegiances. She wasn't good or bad. Mike "Boogie" ranked up there as one of the more annoying contestants, the kind of guy who tries to take control right off the bat in a surfer-geek kind of way. Monica the most level-headed of them all, who kept her foul-mouthed outbursts to just one (and was it a laughable doozy). Nicole, who was a terrific big sister type, if a bit snippy at times. Mostly overlooked by me because of her awesome chest (hey, they were always walking around in bathing suits, I can't help it!) But the queen skank of them all, Shannon! What a mouth on this chick, who had me screaming at the tv every episode. No one willing to stand up to her, letting her spout off insulting garbage on a regular basis. Will was a nut to be making time with her. Such a waste, too, considering her face and body, which were nearly immaculate. But even hot babes can be dismissed by me when they have problems like she did (doubling Hardy's toothbrush as a toiletbrush was her crowning moment as a vidictive shrew). In the end, Dr. Will walked off with the cash, which I was ok with, cuz I didn't care about the winner as much as the overall episodes of the show. Which again weren't amazing, but a better go-round than the previous attempt.
