An overlooked political comedy genius
9 June 2002 | by (US of A) – See all my reviews

Mort Sahl is the humorilogical successor to Will Rogers; a political comedian who points out the flaws of *all* sides with equal vigor, and equal humor. That he is often overlooked is, I suspect, mostly because he cannot be pigeonholed with the more "normal" political humor, which tends to the more 'liberal' slant -- audiences (I suppose) are bewildered when *their* sacred cows are skewered too. Sahl has been performing for nearly 50 years; he is by far the best political humorist out there. Do yourself a favor, check him out (there are a number of albums of his work through the years - almost all out of print.) This program is a very good survey of his career up until 1989; with hilarious performance clips and interviews.
