Ryan Lambie Aug 4, 2017

Following The Last Knight, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is leaving the franchise, he reveals...

Long before its release, Transformers: The Last Knight was intended as a new stage in the franchise, with an entire universe of interlinking spin-offs planned for the next few years - one of them being a movie based on the Autobot, Bumblebee, due out in 2018.

To this end, a writers room was established to help come up with this complex web of transforming robot movies, and Paramount chose Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend) to head it up. When asked by Slash Film whether he was still leading the group, Goldsman simply replied that he wasn't.

Elsewhere, producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura adds that the Transformers writers room was "set up to explore the mythology more" in The Last Knight - which basically meant »

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

Triple H has now confirmed on Twitter that WWE’s long-reported Women’s Tournament is actually happening, along with the competition’s name: The Mae Young Classic.

Dave Meltzer has pointed out on Twitter the 32-woman tournament is most likely so named because Mae Young, who passed away in 2014, and Stephanie McMahon were very close – which is probably why the competition wasn’t rightfully named the Eva Marie Cup.

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

Randy Orton helped create a new wrestling meme from outta nowhere at the weekend, when he retweeted a critique of the indy match formula – handshake, drawn out move exchange, this is awesome chant, strike exchange, dive, no sell Indy strongstyle, dive, more strikes, no sells, dive, flippy floppy sequence, dive, etc.

Randy Orton (@RandyOrton) May 13, 2017

This initially drew responses from a seemingly angry Tjp, a surprisingly agreeable Ricochet, and a merchandise potential realising Will Ospreay.

The Viper didn’t strike again until Bubba Ray Dudley jokingly tweeted about his own version of the ‘…dive’ – a belly flop from the top rope.

The Best Of The Best – The Greatest Cinematographers and the Films that made them great

12 May 2017 4:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Author: Dave Roper

So, we come to the end of this particular series. We’ve covered a number of aspects of the creative input into film-making, including actors, actresses, writers composers, and directors (in two parts). We’ve stopped short of costume, make-up, special effects, art design and others, however our final stop is Cinematography. The Dop exerts plenty of influence over the look of the film. Yes, lighting, production design and the director’s vision are key too, but the consistency and persistence with which certain directors stick with and return to a trusted Dop shows just how much they contribute.

Darius KhondjiSeven

Seven has a unique visual aesthetic. Plenty of films have gone for the “always raining, always dark” approach, but contrast Seven with something like AvP: Requiem for a shining example of how hard it is to pull off effectively. And contrast is the word. Seven »

The 50 Greatest Car Chases in Film: Part 2

19 April 2017 8:17 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

The Fast and Furious movies aren't the only ones with great car chases. Join us as we take a look at the 50 best car chase scenes in film. This week, we're counting down from #25 to #1!

Like peanut butter and jelly, car chases and movies are two things that just go together perfectly. A chase is inherently interesting to watch - someone is trying their best to get away by any means possible, while the other party is trying to stop them from doing so. The danger involved, the threat of violence, and even the thrill of the hunt are all part of why we often can’t look away. A car chase is the next level of chase. They are fast - an embodiment of man and machine together. They are also dangerous - the stakes are incredibly high, and not just for the people involved in the chase.

Benedict Cumberbatch to star in BBC's The Child In Time

Louisa Mellor Feb 16, 2017

The BBC is adapting Ian McEwan's The Child In Time, with Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role...

Ian McEwan's 1987 novel The Child In Time is a heart-wrenching read for anyone, but especially so for parents. The story of the painful aftermath of a young child's disappearance, it's an honest, tender depiction of grief and investigation into the passage of time.

The BBC has commissioned a one-off ninety minute adaptation of the novel, with Benedict Cumberbatch to play lead Stephen, a father whose young daughter goes missing in the most horribly mundane circumstances. This marks Cumberbatch's second appearance in a McEwan adaptation, following his role in Joe Wright's 2007 feature Atonement.

The Last Kingdom's Stephen Butchard has adapted the novel for the screen, with Marvellous helmer Julian Farino directing. A co-production, The Child In Time »

Susan Sarandon Reveals That Her Sexual Orientation Is 'Open' and 'Up for Grabs'

Susan Sarandon is not holding back!

Ever the straight-shooter, the 70-year-old actress describes her sexual orientation these days as "open" in a new, candid interview.

"My sexual orientation is up for grabs, I guess you could say," the Feud star revealed to PrideSource.

Sarandon, though, says she hasn't been able to take full advantage of her sexual fluidity because of her past relationships with ex-husbands Chris Sarandon, who she married at age 20, and Tim Robbins. Now, much to her alarm, she's not being courted by many men or women.

"I'm a serial monogamist," she said, "so I haven't really had a large dating career. I haven't exactly been in the midst of a lot of offers of any kind. I'm still not! I don't know what's going on! But I think back in the '60s it just was much »

24: Legacy spoiler-free episode 1 review

Chris Longo Feb 16, 2017

CTU has a new hero. Here are some spoiler-free thoughts on Fox's new reboot, 24: Legacy, which arrived in the UK last night...

As cynical and sick of franchises, reboots, revivals, and remakes as we are or pretend to be in the comments section (everyone seemed pretty stoked about Rogue One), audiences are smart enough to know that Hollywood won’t budge on this trend anytime soon. They’ll shake every last dollar they can get out of the Revival Era as long as we keep our sticky fingers on our smartphones, tablets, and remotes.
