WWE Power Rankings – May 24th 2014

25 May 2014 9:25 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

This week’s WWE programming came from London, England and for once, embraced the different crowd and acted accordingly. The results weren’t quite as effective as when WWE did it in Chicago in February, but it did produce some different television to the norm.

Payback took a little bit more shape but still feels very much like an unknown quantity, partly due to Daniel Bryan’s neck surgery which was also addressed on Raw as the champion received an ultimatum. The main two feuds, Evolution versus The Shield and Bray Wyatt versus John Cena, continued to roll forward while a new number one contender was crowned for the Intercontinental Championship.

Two Europeans formed a rivalry while overseas as Sheamus and Cesaro developed an issue, and Hulk Hogan made his first WWE appearance in London in 20 years. He even brought a surprise guest along for the ride in Jimmy Hart. »

How ‘Draft Day’ Director Ivan Reitman Got His Groove Back

14 April 2014 11:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

MeatballsStripesGhostbusters and Dave are four of Ivan Reitman‘s films that have stood the test of time. When Reitman was on top of his game, the now 67-year-old filmmaker hit grand slams. I’m not using these sports metaphors because his latest film, Draft Day, includes the NFL Draft, but because, like athletes, some directors have hot streaks and cold streaks. For an array of reasons, slumps happen. Reitman’s lasted 18 years. After Dave he directed Junior, Father’s Day, EvolutionMy Super Ex-Girlfriend, and Six Days, Seven Nights. A few of those films had glimmers of hope that Reitman hadn’t lost his touch, but during those years, only as a producer was he making quality movies. People generally focus on the films that proceeded Dave, not Old SchoolUp in the Air,  I Love You, Man and Private Parts, and one of those acclaimed films he came close to directing. “It »

Ivan Reitman Will Not Direct Ghostbusters 3

19 March 2014 8:30 AM, PDT | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

In what can only be viewed as good news, it has been confirmed that Ivan Reitman no longer intends to direct the long-talked-about-despite-the-complete-and-utter-lack-of-actual-forward-progress Ghostbusters 3. No matter whether you are pro or anti further ghost busting, this is a good thing. Why?Well, if you're one of those who wants a third Ghostbusters film and actually want it to be good, well, consider that Reitman is now more than twenty years removed from the last actually good film that he has directed, that being 1993's Dave. In the intervening years he has helmed Junior, Father's Day, Six Days Seven Nights, Evolution, Cooking Lessons, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, No Strings Attached and the yet to be released Draft Day, whose trailers look typically awful. Let's be honest: Is...
