The sixth Hanna-Barbera syndicated cartoon after their departure from MGM starred Peter Potamus (a purple hippopotamus), and his traveling companion So-So (a monkey), who fly back and forth through time in a balloon participating in historic events. Whenever they get into serious enough trouble, as they do in every episode, Peter defeats his enemies with his trademark "Hippo Hurricane Hollar." Other cartoon shorts include, "Breezly and Sneely," and "Yippee, Yappee, and Yahooey." Written by

As Saturday morning watchers apparently viewed the Hillbilly Bears on the Banana Splits show instead of on its original show, with Atom Ant and Precious Pupp, so then does that seem to be the case here.
Peter Potamus began with Breezly Bruin (a polar bear) and Sneezly (a green seal), as well as three dog musketeers called Yippee, Yappee and Yahooey.
Ricochet Rabbit was with Magilla Gorilla (the title character) and Punkin Puss and Mushmouth (a hillbilly cat and mouse pair).
It seems Ricochet was taken from Magilla and given to Peter Potamus, replacing Breezly and Sneezly.
Breezly & Sneezly and Yippee, Yappee & Yahooey have to be two of the worst of these cartoon vignettes from HB.
This was largely nothing new. Those of us from the seventies would endure this when Dr. Shrinker and Electra Woman were replaced on Kapt. Kool and the Kongs with Magic Mongo and Bigfoot & Wildboy.
Having watched many of these rerun on Cartoon Network before it gave over all these classic cartoons to Boomerang (which I don't receive) so I stopped watching CN, I really didn't care for Ricochet Rabbit either.
Of them all, Peter was unique, as I suspected he might be. He and his little sidekick, So-so the monkey, travel through time, but the cartoon doesn't transcend time.
I suppose Peter was a ripoff of Professor Peabody and Sherman. They have had a well-deserved cameo on the Simpsons.
Peter hasn't. Peter has more of a Peter Griffith of "Family Guy" look to him.
