A very funny, well acted programme

A Many Splintered Thing is an excellent show. It's good to see that Alan Davies isn't being type cast as the brain-box Jonathan Creek type and showing off his excellent acting skills. (Only let's hope he hasn't abandoned the stand-up all together!). Unfortunately Victor McGuire has been. In many productions that he has been seen in he has always played the best mate, admittedly he does play that type of character very well, but it would be nice to see him branch out. Kate Ashfield has a wonderful spark playing Elly, and I hope this is only the beginning of her television ventures.

The script is very well written and played with complete depth and chemistry. The whole cast works well together and it definately deserves another series.

We need this on DVD!

This highly entertaining show can now only be found in a fragmented group of grainy videos online. I would love to see the whole thing including the pilot restored and put on DVD. It shows off all of the players' talents, and was good for many laughs, with a little pathos thrown in. We get a lot of mediocre shows on endless repeat, why not revive a really good one, even if it's now 25 years old?

I was hooked from the moment Alan Davies' character woke from a bender to find himself in compromising circumstances. Both his high-powered wife and horrific boss do their best to manipulate him to their will, but the delightful Kate Ashfield steps in to bring some brightness to his life. There are a couple of good subplots as well. This brief series doesn't disappoint at any stage.

DVD, please!
