Adam Czerniaków went to the gangster to get final money to pay the ransom. The gangster "house of ill repute" was at address Mila 18 - this was a reference to the Leon Uris story also of the Ghetto uprising.

Janusz Korczak was the only person that was given a free pass out of the Warsaw Ghetto by the Nazis. The only requirement, give up the children. He couldn't and perished in Treblinka.

Korczak was a pediatrician, author, and educator that ran an orphanage in Warsaw. This orphanage had a newspaper, court trials and the teachers were rated by the students.

Hank Azaria was about 36 during filming. His character Mordechaj Anielewicz didn't even live to be 25.
