Richard Gere in the race to Oscar!

31 December 2012 8:53 AM, PST | Hollywoodnews.com | See recent Hollywoodnews.com news »

Richard Gere’s extraordinary talent and remarkable career deserves to be recognized. This year his outstanding performance in “Arbitrage” has been embraced by both the critics and the public at large. Gere plays the most self-serving Wall Street bastard since Gordon Gekko in Nicholas Jarecki’s “Arbitrage.” Actor and humanitarian Richard Gere can currently be seen starring in Nicholas Jarecki’s “Arbitrage” opposite Susan Sarandon and Tim Roth. Gere is known for his diversity of roles, from his Golden Globe winning performance in “Chicago” to the critically acclaimed “Pretty Women,” “An Officer and a Gentleman,” “American Gigolo,” and “Primal Fear.” He was last seen in “Amelia” alongside Hilary Swank and Ewan McGregor and in Anton Fuqua’s “Brooklyn’s Finest,” starring Don Cheadle and Ethan Hawke. Other recent credits include “Nights in Rodanthe,” “I’m Not There,” “The Hoax,” “The Hunting Party,” “Shall We Dance,” and “Bee Season.” Gere’s »

'Arbitrage' Blu-ray: Richard Gere 'did something special' says director Nicholas Jarecki -- Exclusive Video

21 December 2012 6:00 AM, PST | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

It really can’t be true, can it? Richard Gere has never been nominated for an Oscar? Really? Let’s check again. For Chicago, surely. Nope. Officer and a Gentleman? Nope. Unfaithful, The Hoax, Primal Fear? Eh-eh. Damn… Dude’s due.

With Arbitrage, Gere might finally land that elusive nomination. In the Sundance hit from first-time writer/director Nicholas Jarecki, Gere plays a Bernie Madoff type who needs to unload his financial company before Wall Street figures out he’s short $412 million. It’s a subtle, daring performance, but also one that reminds you how consistently remarkable the 63-year-old has been for more than 35 years, »

Warner Bros. has just posted the newest trailer for Man Of Steel online, and.......Wow! I wasn't too gone on Zach Snyder taking on Superman, but judging from this, he should be in safe hands. It's suitably epic, right down to the music, and we get our first, fleeting, glimpse of Michael Shannon as the movie's big bad, General Zod.       Synopsis: From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes “Man of Steel,” starring Henry Cavill (“Immortals,” TV’s “The Tudors”) in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, under the direction of Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”). The film also stars three-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams (“The Fighter”) as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, and Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) as her editor-in-chief, Perry White.  Starring as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, are Oscar® nominee Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”) and Academy Award® winner »

Zack Snyder Confirms Crazy Man Of Steel Trailer with The Hobbit

20 November 2012 12:38 PM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Just because we won't be seeing a trailer for The Wolverine with The Hobbit doesn't mean we won't be seeing one for Man of Steel. Zack Snyder has confirmed with MTV that there will be a trailer attached to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and he says it's going to be crazy.

It's fun. I can't wait for The Hobbit, so it will be fun to see our crazy Man of Steel trailer and then enjoy the Hobbit because that's going to be great. It just feels like a fun Christmas thing to do, drag the whole family out for that action.

It's not like we need another reason to see The Hobbit, but it's going to be so freakin' cool to see a full on trailer for Man of Steel. I want to see more! Snyder also went on to talk about Michael Shannon's performance as General Zod. »

Zack Snyder talks Man of Steel

There's just eight months to go until director Zack Snyder attempts to make us believe that Henry Cavill can fly in Warner Bros.' hotly-anticipated Superman reboot Man of Steel, and while we can surely expect a promotional blitz in the run up to its release date, so far virtually everyone involved with the project has remained firmly tight-lipped about what's in store for us come June. However, Synder has taken a moment out of post-production to talk to Hero Complex about the upcoming Super Special Edition Ultimate Extended Director's Cut of Watchmen, and naturally the conversation soon drifted into Superman territory:

"It’s a more serious version of Superman," states Snyder on his approach to Man of Steel. "It’s not like a heart attack. We took the mythology seriously. We take [Superman] as a character seriously. I believe the movie would appeal to anyone. I think that you’re »

Man of Steel is by far one of the films we’re most looking forward to next summer. Following the end of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy this year, all eyes will be on Zack Snyder to see his vision for what could be the start of a new Superman franchise.

This summer brought with it an awesome teaser poster, followed by the immense first trailers for the film, and now Warner Bros. have officially announced that the film will be released next summer in 2D, 3D, and IMAX theatres when it arrives in June.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination.
