Whitesell in catbird seat for 'Dogs 2'

9 July 2003 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

John Whitesell is in negotiations to direct Warner Bros. Pictures/Village Roadshow Pictures' live-action/CGI feature Cats & Dogs 2: Tinkles' Revenge. Andrew Lazar's Mad Chance Prods. is producing. The project, a sequel to the original 2001 film, is expected to be in theaters by summer 2005. The sequel was written by the film's original writers, John Requa and Glenn Ficarra. Tab Murphy is revising the script, which will continue the wars between canines and felines. Warners' Greg Silverman and Alysia Cotter are overseeing the project for the studio. Dogs 2 would mark Whitesell's third consecutive feature film for Warners, following the comedies Malibu's Most Wanted and See Spot Run. The helmer is repped by UTA. »
