A semi-interesting premise (not all that original since it is based on the Rip Van Winkle tale) is woodenly presented and ultimately pretty boring. McDaniel has good screen presence, but, except for the actress playing the librarian, he gets little help from his fellow actors. Harris is just going through the motions, and no one else is very interesting. Instead of concentrating on the idea of man losing the years 1980 - 2000 out of his life, the plot devolves into a tiresome 'evil developer vs preservationists' story. See "Forever Young" again instead.
