There's this new maximum security prison being built in the Antarctic to house the world's most dangerous criminals. So they're drilling into the ice and they hit this hollow rock formation which is filled with nitrogen. I'm no expert on the science bit, but apparently nitrogen preserves stuff for millions of years, so guess what has been preserved in this bit of old rock? So they drill into this rock and there's an explosion which releases a monster from the past, as yet unbeknownst to anyone. Then a few months later when the prison has been completed and the prisoners are in place, they discover this tunnel in the ice, which they figure has been caused by a gas explosion, and nobody's too worried until people begin to go missing, and the warden starts seeing what looks like a giant snake on his surveillance monitors. So the army calls for the assistance of paleontologist Dean Cain (Superman) and his wife Elizabeth Lackey (Lisa Lackey from Home and Away) insists on coming too, so they pack and set off to the Antarctic to sort out the Warden's reptile problem. Think Alien in the Antarctic. It starts out okay, but gets progressively sillier, and the idea of a super-prison for international criminals - I just didn't buy it somehow.
