The Ancient Chant for The Winged Dragon Of Ra card is: "All mighty protector of the sun and sky. I beg of thee, please heed my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. I beseech thee, grace our humble game but first I shall call out thy name: Winged Dragon Of Ra."

In Season 1, there were many issues when comparing the card game in the show to how the card game had to be completed. This included players calling out attacks during their opponents turn, adding spell/traps during their opponents turn, attacking with monsters already on the field then attacking then summoning another monster and attacking again.
Tristan Taylor's voice was originally provided by Sam Reigal, who happens to voice Rex Raptor, through the first ten episodes. Reigal was replaced as Tristan's voice in episode 11 by Frank Frankson (under the pseudonym John Campbell), but Reigal continued to provide Rex Raptor's voice through season three.
Many of the character's name's are puns or play on words. For example, Mai Valentine can be taken to be 'My Valentine'. Rex Raptor's name involves the 'rex' in T-rex, and raptor, which in Latin means thief and is attributed to several dinosaur species. Weavel Underwood refers to the insect group of weavels, which burrow into wood.
The Egyptian God Cards each make reference to Egyptian mythology. Slifer in the Japanese version is called the Dragon of Osiris, who is god of the underworld. The Winged Dragon of Ra makes reference to the god Ra. Who in most Egyptian myths is merged with Horus, who is the son of Osiris. Finally Obelisk, named after the egyptian structure, were usually associated with rhe god Ra or Aten. And also has another meaning as obelisks were typically believed to host the gods themselves, and usually placed outside of temples in pairs.
While the show is based on a card game, the duelists often call out a specific attack for their monsters. These attack names were created specifically for the show as there are no specific attacks in the card game.
