Trivia

A cage match was planned between Kane and X-Pac. It was to be the culmination of their established rivalry. But Glenn Jacobs injured his hand weeks before the event. The match was changed to a tag team match with Kane partnering with Rikishi and X-Pac partnering with Road Dogg. See more »

Goofs

The ending of the Hardcore title match was planned as follows: Hardcore Holly would cover Crash Holly, and the referee would only reach a pinfall count of two before the time limit expired, ensuring that Crash would win the match and keep the title. However, in execution, the referee makes and completes the three count just before the on-screen clock reaches zero. There is some initial confusion among the commentators and the ring announcer Howard Finkel as to the outcome of the match, before an on-the-spot decision is made to announce Hardcore Holly as the winner, and the new Hardcore Champion. A re-write was made for the following night's "Raw" show, allowing Crash to win the title back from Hardcore Holly. See more »

Quotes

The Rock: 12 months. 12 months ago, after every interview, after every run-in, after every backstabbing, after every win, after every loss, after everything they've thrown at The Rock, and after everything The Rock has thrown back, after every chokeslam, after every mandible claw, after every pedigree. The Rock says this. Is that if he can do it all over the again he would say, finally, The Rock has come back to Wrestlemania!

Some memorable moments

Basically, It was like a pretty good movie with a really bad ending. The problem with the main event is that there is a tradition with Wrestlemania where the good guys win in the end. Why they had to change it for this one, I have no idea. This was the perfect chance to give Mick Foley the send-off he deserved. He could've retired as WWF champion. But what happened? Triple H wins the match with a screw job finish. The match itself had some good points, like the final teaming of the Rock and Sock Connection. Aside from that, the Main sucked!

The undercard went from decent to classic. I am primarily referring to the first three-way tag ladder match between the Dudley's, Edge and Christian, and The Hardy's. Spectacular.

You can also throw in the triple threat, double title match featuring Benoit, Jericho, and Angle. It was great to see Benoit and Jericho as champions by the end of that match. And yes, I know Benoit was a heel in that one, but Vince was an idiot to make him one in the first place.

Of course, Vince being an idiot might explain the crappy ratings they've had over the past year or so.
