For a comedy that relies on the same kind of material for most of its laughs, "One Wet Night" works fairly well. The story is rather simple, and starts with the difficulties that a married couple faces during a heavy rainstorm. The cast does a decent job of responding to the various situations, and a couple of the gags work pretty well. Alice Howell, as the wife, has some good moments with her reactions to everything.
There's not a lot here, but most of it is at least mildly amusing, and it goes quickly. Unlike so many comedies, especially today, it doesn't try to get more laughs from a situation than are really there. It works all right as light entertainment, and it's not a bad way to spend a short while.
