Storyline

Professor Charles Francis Xavier, who has the mutant ability to read minds, searches for new mutants to train them how to use their powers for good and to prevent the mutants from harming themselves and others at his School for Gifted Youngsters. His opposition, Magneto "Master of Magnetism", is doing the same thing, but for evil purposes. He has made Mystique who is a shape-shifter, a principle of his high school to gather evil mutants to prepare them for war against non-mutants. The most interesting plot of the story is that all the heroes and villains attend the same high school. The classic battle of good vs. evil has begun again. Trivia

Professor X, Beast and Magneto are grouped together when the Acolytes and X-men get separated. This coincidently foreshadows how the three characters are part of the original X-men in the film X-men: First Class. Shadowcat, Nightcrawler and Colossus are in a group referencing the three of them being part of X-Calibre. Wolverine, Sabretooth and Gambit tracks Mesmero to the Himilayas. This also foreshadows that the three of them are present in X-men Wolverine's Origin. See more »

Goofs

When Jean and Kurt leave the mansion, McCoy and Xavier find them at the airport buying tickets to New York City; Bayville is less than an hour by car from the city, around two in bad traffic. There are no flights from anywhere near Bayville to New York City. See more »

Rocks!
21 January 2001 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Having been familiar with the ORIGINAL X-Men (Angel, Beast, Iceman, Marvel Girl, and Cyclops) and having caught up a bit on the more recent adventures so I wouldn't be a total doofus for the movie, I find this series EXCELLENT!

I like the alternate concept, and the way the series is being handled, even if it doesn't mesh with the comic version. Seeing Kurt Wagner as a girl-crazy teen is hilarious, and his antics with Scott Summers has been the best part of this series. It's nice to see Scott a bit looser than he's ever been portrayed in any previous X-Men project.

The show's music score and title theme simply ROCK!

Here's hoping the ratings warrant this one being around for a long time.
