When Thorny is getting ready to shoot Mac to test the bulletproof cup, he draws his gun and touches the top of it. The gun makes a noise as if he was pulling the slide back and a round was being chambered, but he never pulls the slide.
When Ramathorn and Rabbit are back in their cruiser with the German speeders in the back, Ramathorn tells Arlo to climb on Rabbit's lap, then sits in the middle. The German woman int he back moves her lips, but no sound comes out.
When Farva tells Rabbit about the 1975 Country Music Awards, he says that Charlie Rich set the award on fire when John Denver was announced as the winner. Charlie Rich set fire to the winner's certificate, the form inside the envelope with the winner's name, not the actual award.
At the beginning, the kids in the car say they're going to Canada. As the Miata drives past, a road sign with the letters "Cana" is visible on the edge of the screen. However, when Rabbit calls it in, he says the Miata is headed "southbound on Route 294". Canada is north of Vermont.
In the syrup-chugging scene, three empty, open syrup bottles are on the table. Mac then throws one of the bottles at Officer Rando. The shot pans back over to Mac at the table, where the syrup bottles have caps.
When the guys are drinking with Captain O'Hagan in the station, Thorny's right foot is propped up on the desk. When he stands up, in the very next shot, you can his foot is still propped on the desk, as if he's still sitting. In the next shot, he is standing again.
During the bulletproof cup scene, Thorny pulls up a target, and you can see a bullet hole on the "9". During the next shot, when the camera pans up towards the "little guy", no hole is visible on the "9".
When all 5 super troopers steal the police car, the first scene they appear in it driving down the road drinking a beer, there is no cage in the police car. In the next scene when they go through the fast food drive through, they are pulling the cage out.
When Mac is being chased in the white Miata convertible by the State Troopers in the beginning of the film, the lead patrol car looses its driver-side, front wheel hubcap coming off the highway ramp. In the very next shot of the car, the hubcap is back.
When Foster and Ursula are in the back seat of his patrol car, she mentions that the police car rear doors need to be opened from the outside. The next morning, the troopers walk by Fosters car, which has had the door unbolted at the hinges. Yet, a few days before, Arlo is able to open the rear door of the car without a problem while the troopers are arresting the Germans in the Porsche.
When the German woman is about to be arrested, she is directly in front of the car bending over the hood. In the next shot, when Rabbit grabs her to arrest her, she is sitting up on the hood, off to the side, with her legs outstretched.
When Mac is drinking down four shots of whiskey, the glasses are in a line. When the camera cuts to him jumping in the air, the glasses are spread out in different directions. In the next cut, the glasses are back in a line.
In the beginning, when the college boys are pulling over to the side of the road, a guard rail on the right side of the road. But as soon as the boys pull over, the guard rail is gone. When Thorny and Rabbit pass in the cruiser, the rail is still not there.
In the opening chase scene, when the Miata makes a hard right onto the rural road before the bar, in the background you can clearly see a line of orange road cones and a police officer standing next to his car redirecting traffic.
The movie is set in Vermont, but many items are specific to New York state, where it was filmed, like the lottery ticket machines in the bar after the Miata chase. The Seal in the middle of the troopers' badges are the State Seal of New York, not Vermont.
When Rabbit takes the stolen Porsche for a joyride, Farva is filling up his car at a gas station. He sees that he'd get a free hot dog with a 10-gallon fill-up, but the pump cuts off at a little over 9. He then pumps some gas into the trash can. Those types of pumps don't allow gas to be pumped out if the black safety cover isn't pushed back. It would be impossible to pump gas into the trash can.
When the State Police barracks are shut down, the troopers along with the captain would not have been fired or let go. They would have been assigned to another barracks or division around the state, but not fired.
When the stoners are telling the guys where to put the keg of St. Anky beer, you can see "Anheuser-Busch" on the rim of the keg. Beer kegs are re-used time and again and not always by the same company. Thus the name on the rim needn't match up to the contents. Smaller breweries are especially likely to use old kegs from another, larger brewery as it's a lot more cost-effective.
Police officers are required to wear flashlights. Mac and Foster's flashlights are visible in several scenes. Yet neither Mac nor Foster use their flashlights when Galikanokus shuts them in the soap truck.
In the scene where the governor is visiting Spurbury, when Mac is about to leave the building, you can see Ursula enter the frame early. After Mac hits Farva in the stomach, she enters the frame again and leaves the building.
When O'Hagan discusses the bulletproof cup prank and holds Thorny's pistol off to the side, the gun is clearly higher than his patrol car and aimed at a slightly upwards angle when it fires, yet the car's window still shatters when "hit".
The goof item below may give away important plot points.
When the local police meet with the drug smugglers, two officers exit the back seat of the police car without assistance, which would be impossible as squad cars have the interior rear door handles removed. Ursula refers to this fact earlier in the film when she and Foster are in the back seat of his car.
