Yes, Dear is a comedy about two young couples and their outrageously contrasting views on parenting. First-time parents, Greg and Kim Warner struggle on a daily basis to become perfect at the job. Kim is a neurotic, stay-at-home mother, and although her husband, Greg, is a success in his career, his more difficult job is keeping his wife calm as they raise their year-old son, Sam. While Kim is determined to be the perfect mother and perfect wife and to raise the perfect son, her sister, Christine Hughes, a very down-to-earth mother of two [four-year-old Dominic and one-year-old Logan], continually reminds her that life will never be perfect. Christine's husband, Jimmy, is employed as a security guard and unconcerned about living in Kim and Greg's guest house and feels compelled to share with his brother-in-law his philosophy about being a husband and a parent while still remaining a man. Did You Know?
In the day-dream sequence where Greg contemplates the benefits of having new neighbors (guest stars Shelley Long
and Alan Thicke
), Long appears out of nowhere with a beer and Greg says, "That was fast," to which Long replies, "I used to work in a bar," an obvious reference to her stint on Cheers
(1982). See more
In the opening credits of the earlier shows, the two families are seen crossing a road headed toward a beach. As they switch cameras, Jimmy is shown behind Christine then next to her and then behind her again. See more
Hey, hey, hey, hey. Did you guys clean up your toys in there?

Well, go back in there and pick 'em up. You want your mom to trip on a Power Ranger again and break her other ankle?
No, we're sorry.
Christine, you broke your ankle trying on slutty shoes at the mall.
Shh! Knowing their mom's a clumsy tramp isn't going to keep their room clean for the next six to eight weeks.
