Extraordinary (Zeenat Aman) !

I didn't like the story. Lots of forced and illogical matters, and for a Bollywood movie not much to pay off, or rather make you forget. For instance just one song caught my attention; Kya Dekhte Ho, and no action scene did! However, the cinematography is incredibly vivid, the colors are dazzling, and the image is crystal, DVD crystal ! You will notice something about the costumes of the leads, or all the cast for that matter; they are all so chic to say the least, even their sunglasses. The movie looks like a long ad about Armani (Well, the Indian Armani then !). Mostly in Bollywood the numbers are what used to be taken care of chromatically, but this time it's the whole movie.

Then we reach to the cream de le cream : (Zeenat Aman). And that is not only about her being in her prime, it's about the BIKINI thing too. For decades the Indian cinema used to be so demure and bashful when it comes to seduction (not with blood and melodrama though !). Hence filming (Zeenat Aman) in that bikini back in 1980, even for a swift moment, was an event, a Hot Event. By the way, I believe she was the first Indian actress to wear a 2 pieces swimsuit in (Haré Raama Haré Krishna – 1971). But this time she looked more fabulous, and more voluptuous, in it. In fact every scene she's in was a delight. Putting in mind her flashy, a bit risqué, outfits, or the titillating Hindi-disco dances. These are reasons for this movie to be historical before enjoyable. And this is always the way with (Feroz Khan)'s movies I think.

(Khan), as a director and producer (such as here), maintained a formula of action, romance, and sex in all of his movies. With the emphasis of sex. I just can't forget seeing (Mumtaz) in very short skirts, or (Faryal) in very short skirts while bending over, both in his first movie as a director/producer (Apradh – 1972). Accordingly he made what the others don't, with boldness and class. On the other hand I didn't like him as a leading man. (Vinod Khanna) is more charismatic and persuasive for me. While the movie has (Amrish Puri) as well, in one wig you will never forget!, (Amjad Khan) was the one who won them all. He did a nice role nicely, looking like a smart version of Insp. Clouseau. Loved him while playing the drum disguised as a hippie, or regulating a car by his bare hands while praying gad.

(Qurbani) is cops and robbers stuff, with a story of a friendship. It's brainless, yet elegant and sexy. As for me, I know that I may re-watch it for seeing (Zeenat Aman), only (Zeenat Aman), again. As a beauty, she wasn't brighter in any other movie. Something reminds me of other familiar cases; (Jean Peters) in (Captain from Castile – 1947), (Dimple Kapadia) in (Bobby – 1973), and (Heather Langenkamp) in (A Nightmare on Elm Street – 1984). Sometimes a combination of beauty in certain age and boldness in certain movie works extraordinarily.
