David Spade Interviewed by Norm Macdonald About His New Special, Donald Sterling, and Joe Dirt 2

2 May 2014 1:10 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

With his memorable work with Chris Farley in Tommy Boy and Black Sheep in tow, David Spade left Saturday Night Live at the end of the 1995-96 season, and within a year he’d returned to the warm embrace of a weekly television series, joining the ensemble cast on the 1997-2003 NBC sitcom Just Shoot Me! He’s essentially had a TV gig ever since, following up his supporting turn as Finch with a stint on 8 Simple Rules (2003-05), the Comedy Central series The Showbiz Show (2005-07), and perennial bubble-watch CBS sitcom Rules of Engagement (2007-13), in addition to film work (most notably, 2001’s Joe Dirt and 2003’s Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star). All the while, he's never stopped doing stand-up, so, with a new Comedy Central special set to air Sunday at 10 p.m., Vulture thought it was a good time to check in with Spade. And we asked »

David Spade Explains Why He Didn't Attend Chris Farley's Funeral

30 April 2014 1:30 PM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

It's been nearly two decades since Chris Farley died. But his Tommy Boy and Black Sheep costar, David Spade, said that he thinks of the physical comedy genius every day in a Reddit Ama session Wednesday. Recalling stories about their time together on Saturday Night Live to his decision not to attend Farley's funeral, Spade wrote his answers with detail and candor. He also discussed his film and TV career beyond Farley, including a surprising number of questions about his 2001 movie The Adventures of Joe Dirt and his magazine-themed sitcom Just Shoot Me. »

David Spade Is Working On Joe Dirt 2

30 April 2014 12:25 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

The white trash David Spade comedy Joe Dirt is now thirteen years old, and like just about all movies, you have to imagine that someone somewhere out there is demanding a sequel. Whether or not that's actually true, however, Spade is now delivering news of a Joe Dirt 2. Screw you, Justice League and Star Wars: Episode VII, only now has the week been truly made. Spade did an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit recently where he promoted his upcoming stand-up special on Comedy Central. Referring to himself, charmingly, as an "international stupidstar," Spade answered a slew of questions, but his most substantial answer was in regards to Joe Dirt 2, which he has actually written! "We're putting it together now and seeing if we can keep it as funny and with the music we like for a lower budget. All the movies you hear about being made now keep running »

David Spade Wants to Return for 'Joe Dirt 2'

30 April 2014 11:17 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

David Spade participated in a Reddit Ama this morning, where he revealed that a sequel to the 2001 comedy Joe Dirt is in active development.

Apparently, it will be the first sequel ever produced exclusively for Crackle, and the comedian is trying to find a way to bring Joe Dirt 2 in for a very low budget without losing any of the quality. He explains.

"We wrote a sequel, and we may wind up doing it on Crackle.com, because they want to be the first web address to do a sequel to a movie. Because Sony owns them, and it's a Sony movie. We're trying to find a way to make it for the budget, but we really want to do it. And keep it good."

He went onto discuss the logistics of getting the movie made, and that the soundtrack needed for the sequel may prove to be a problem for the low budget. »

Is a 'Joe Dirt' Sequel in the Works? Sort Of.

30 April 2014 9:00 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

When their participants are on point, Reddit AMAs can be hilarious and insightful, gut-wrenching, awesome, or freaky. David Spade did an Ama this morning, and he was surprisingly game to discuss anything from the Razzie Awards to skateboarding accidents and the late Chris Farley. Also, that "a lot of people have sweaty hands, and when they come up to me it's like shaking hands with a sham-wow."

What seemed to get him talking the most was "Joe Dirt," the 2001 movie about a radio station janitor whose life stories mesmerize audiences and turn him into a star. "Joe Dirt" played on some rather tasteless class tropes, not the least of which was Spade's majestic mullet wig. In any case, one Redditor asked about a possible sequel, which Spade was all too eager to discuss.

Though he has appeared in a number of other films in addition to "Saturday Night Live," it became pretty apparent what many people know comedian David Spade for as the top ranked questions on his recent Reddit Ama were about the 2001 comedy Joe Dirt . What will delight fans of the film the most though, is that during the question and answer session Spade took the time to announce they're developing a sequel to the movie. "We wrote a sequel, and we may wind up doing it on Crackle.com, because they want to be the first web address to do a sequel to a movie. Because Sony owns them, and it's a Sony movie. We're trying to find a way to make it for the budget, but we really want to do it. And keep it good." Spade went on to say that they're still working out the »
