In the original pilot for Spyder Games, Chrystee Pharris was originally casted as Cherish Pardee, but MTV thought she was to old for the role. The part later went to Megalyn Echikunwoke.

Those Who Delight in Fantastic Unabashed Melodrama, Rejoice!

I don't know how "Spyder Games" compares to open-ended day-time soap operas, since I don't watch them, but what I can say about it is that it is a well-written and nicely-paced, if at times poorly-acted serial noir melodrama which has kept this viewer addicted.

Admittedly, some of the subplots are superfluous and even tedious, such as the one dealing with Sasha Carlisle's singing career, and Byron Fields's performance as Ivan Carlisle is abominable. However, for the most part, the show provides more thrills, intrigue, wit, and sex appeal per minute than any of its dramatic competition on basic cable.
