Actor Hugh Grant says he wants to leave Hollywood and work on a book he has started writing. Grant, who has reportedly ruled out another Bridget Jones movie and who has just appeared in Did You Hear About the Morgans?, told the Bild am Sonntag, a German newspaper: 'I have always promised myself, 'When you have made some nice films and earned some money, you are going to finally write your novel'.' Grant, 49, has just returned to the cinema after a two-year break. Yet he is already speaking of retirement and soon turning 50. He charmed Sydney audiences at the premiere of the Morgans, which also stars Sarah Jessica Parker. The delightfully wry Grant faced a

Renee Zellweger won over her boyfriend Bradley Cooper's mother this Christmas, 2009 - they were spotted doing their holiday shopping together. The Hollywood couple began dating in the summer 2009 and now the Bridget Jones star has proved how serious she is about Cooper by spending their first festive season together with his parents, Gloria and Charlie, in Los Angeles.
Zellweger was seen strolling with the Coopers in Venice, California on December 21, before picking up last-minute gifts with Gloria at the Bay Cities Italian Deli in Santa Monica on Christmas Eve 2009.
An onlooker tells People.com the actress made an extra effort to impress Bradley's Italian-American mother, asking her to help pick out her favorite delicacies as they browsed the deli.
The source says, "Renee seems to get along really well with Bradley's parents. Bradley's mom is Italian-American and it was obvious that Renee was making an effort to impress Bradley's mom with Christmas dishes.

Renee Zellweger was radiating joy and Christmas spirit in recent days as she hosted Bradley Cooper's parents in Los Angeles. Zellweger, whose romance with Cooper appeared to cool lately amid reports the pair were parting ways, was 'very happy' as she showed Cooper's parents Gloria and Charlie around the beachside suburb of Venice. The foursome later gathered to spend Christmas together. Zellweger was spotted making an all-out effort with her prospective in-laws by taking Gloria to Bay Cities Italian Deli in Santa Monica on Christmas Eve. A source said the Bridget Jones star invited Gloria to pick out her favourite treats: 'Renee seems to get along really well with Bradley's parents. Bradley's mom is Italian-American and it

Renee Zellweger may have gotten exactly what she wanted for Christmas.
A real boyfriend!
People reports that Renee spent Christmas with her new boyfriend, "The Hangover" star Bradley Cooper, and his parents, Gloria and Charlie Cooper. In Los Angeles, of all places. And Renee's mother Kjellfried Irene (seen in the above photo shopping for holiday vittles with her daughter) was there, too.
As everyone knows, nothing says "serious relationship" like Christmas with the 'rents.
This photo shows Renee shopping for groceries at Quality Food and Beverage with her mom, Kjellfried Irene, on Dec 26. But they were also spotted at Greenblatt's Deli on Dec. 25.
So we're assuming the families met up for a few holiday meals. Is Renee packing it on for her redux of "Bridget Jones?"
Zellweger reportedly took Coop's Ps on a casual stroll in Venice. And on Christmas Eve, Zellweger and Cooper's mom made a shopping run.

A Single Man
Directed by: Tom Ford
Cast: Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode
Running Time: 1 hr 40 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: December 25, 2009
Plot: Set in Los Angeles in 1962, a 50-something professor (Firth) is mourning the loss of his lover, and trying to come with grips with a life he doesn’t want to live.
Who’S It For? It’s a period piece. It’s not a focus on gay lifestyles from the 60s as much as it is looking at love and loss. If you like Firth, you’ll definitely want to see this.
Expectations: I knew nothing. I’m always a fan of that. I didn’t even know if it was a comedy or drama (it’s a drama). I did have a hunch it might have to do with just one man, instead of a whole pile of them.
Scorecard (0-10)

When it comes to festive films to warm the cockles of your heart and give you that feel good factor there are few better than 2003’s Love Actually. It unashamedly embraces all that is potentially corny about the Christmas film (kids nativity plays, carol singing) and gives it the funny twist we’ve come to expect from Brit scribe Richard Curtis (Bridget Jones’s Diary, Notting Hill). Cleverly entwining nine plots with overlapping characters, the film bravely explores many of the various aspects of love from newly-wed bliss to unrequited passion, from a mid-life fling to enduring platonic friendship and all with a sparkly holiday gloss. Never do the more realistic or sad stories bring down the mood, rather they bring into sharp focus the amount of love there is at this time of year and according to the Prime Minister (played by Hugh Grant): “If you look for it,

Actors dream about the opportunity Colin Firth is getting right now.
Look, we've all known Firth's work for years. But he's always been that guy, the dude who played Mr. Darcy in both "Pride and Prejudice" and the "Bridget Jones" movies. We know he's talented, but he's British and though he's charming, he doesn't look like George Clooney, and he's been primarily regulated to supporting and character roles, in which he's always thrived and impressed, but never been given the chance to truly show his stuff.
Until now, that is. Firth's performance in Tom Ford's adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's 1964 novel "A Single Man" is a career game-changer, and will likely result in an Oscar nomination. He's George Falconer, a gay Briton living in L.A. in 1962, buttoned-up, stuffy, and terribly unhappy. His longtime lover, played by Matthew Goode, recently died in a car accident, and it's all George can

Hugh Grant: the trouble with theatre

Watching a play is enjoyable 'about one time in 20', claims the Bridget Jones and Four Weddings star. He might be on to something
Aaahh, Hugh Grant. Champion of posh stutterers, king of past-it bachelors everywhere. When he's not perfecting his surprised, wide-eyed bumbling on screen or buying Warhols while drunk, it seems that Grant can be found offering insights into the tortured state of the average theatregoer.
"I personally find going to the theatre is enjoyable about one time in 20", he told World Entertainment News Network (WENN) last week. "The other 19 you're just going, 'Oh, come on. Let's get to the end of it and have a drink'". One might carp that these are brave words coming from a man currently doing the publicity rounds for trite romcom Did You Hear About the Morgans? – and whose own oeuvre includes the woefully tedious American Dreamz and Two Weeks Notice. But let's not be petty.

Hollywood actor Hugh Grant has ruled out appearing in a third Bridget Jones movie. The 49-year-old is currently promoting his new movie Did You Hear About The Morgans?, in which he stars opposite actress Sarah Jessica Parker. He has played the role of Daniel Cleaver alongside Colin Firth and Renee Zellweger in the original Bridget Jones movie as well as the sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason. Talking about a third movie, he said he thought it was a 'mistake' to make the second movie as it didn't have a 'very good script'. He added that he and the rest of the cast were 'conned' into doing it.

The 'Bridget Jones Diary' star is quoted by the Daily Express newspaper as saying: ''I've resolved never to smile. That's because someone told me it makes me look fat.'' Yesterday, NPR printed an article about the best and worst movie accents of the decade, asking readers to submit their votes on what actor should nab the award in both categories. As the EW writer who a few years ago helmed our Worst Movie Accents gallery, I decided to look at their choices. (And, unfortunately, since film's all-time worst movie accent -- Kevin Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves -- was brought to screens in 1991, it is not eligible for this award.)
As far as the best accents go, NPR offers up four: Morgan Freeman in Invictus, Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean,

As an unashamed rom-com fan, I ignored the reviews and went to see Did You Hear About the Morgans? (horrible title!) on Friday – and let’s just say I had my fill of watered-down City Slickers jokes within the first half hour.
But moving on to the positives -- for starters, Elisabeth Moss (our beloved Peggy from Mad Men) showed off a sleek modern style and a deliciously bitchy attitude as the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker's annoying character. And also, Hugh Grant was pretty lovable and had a few good lines that had me laughing two or three times.

The 10 Most Memorable Performances of the Decade

As a part of Fsr's Decade in Review I've been tasked with coming up a list of the most memorable, landmark performances since 2000. Since I wanted the list to be only 10 performances I had to set out a string of criteria to follow.
1. If the performance happened before 2005, why has it stuck with us? Likewise, if it occured after 2005, why will we remember it?
2. No impersonations -- as good as Jamie Foxx and Jaoquin Pheonix may have been in their biopics, I have to give more credit to original creations here. You may not agree with my logic, and that's fine, but don't expect to see famous celebrity impersonations here. Foxx's performance will never be more memorable than the man himself, so why would it be a defining performance?
3. Academy Awards do not help your chance of being on this list. For example, in ten years we won't remember what movie Renee Zellweger won an Oscar for

Renee Zellweger's romance with Bradley Cooper is stepping up a gear - the pair has been spotted house-hunting together in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood couple has been dating since the summer, and the pair soon proved they were serious after The Hangover star introduced his Oscar-winning lover to his parents in September.
And despite rumours suggesting Cooper was keen to re-locate to New York, where Zellweger lives, it seems the Bridget Jones star is happy to settle in L.A. with her beau.
A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "Until Renee, Bradley had a reputation as a ladies' man and a heartbreaker, but he seems so happy with her. They prefer to stay in rather than hang out at showbusiness parties, and he has already introduced her to his parents."
Cooper has previously dated Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz, while Zellweger was briefly married to country singer Kenny Chesney.

Colin Firth has reportedly claimed that he likes the idea of filming a third Bridget Jones movie. The actor starred as Bridget's (Renee Zellwegger) love interest Mark Darcy in the original film and its sequel, based on the novels by Helen Fielding. Recent reports have suggested that Working Title is considering a third instalment, possibly inspired by Fielding's newspaper columns. Speaking to Moviefone, he said: "I only know what you know. That might not be believable to you, but I honestly don't know. I'm not in regular touch with the Working Title people. "I (more)

A Single Man is unmistakably an art house film but in the best sense of the term. It’s intimate, outside the mainstream, relies more on cinematography, music, and editing rather than dialogue to tell the story, and highlights actors, or in this case, an actor, who can completely embody a character and keep you mesmerized with a small, subtle performance. It may be an art house film but A Single Man is an experience that will completely entrance you no matter the venue.
Set in 1962 Los Angeles, director Tom Ford’s A Single Man centers on a day in the life of George Falconer (Colin Firth), a gay man working as an English professor whose world is cold and empty ever since boyfriend Joe (Matthew Goode) died in a car accident eight months ago. George isn’t sleepwalking through life as much as life has become lifeless without love.

Drew Barrymore 'hates' him, Emma Thompson is 'as mad as a chair' and Renée Zellweger is a 'very good kisser', according to a 'far from sane' Hugh Grant, who jokingly made the claims in a recent magazine interview. Asked to describe his co-stars using just three adjectives, the British actor said that his Four Weddings And A Funeral leading lady Andie MacDowell is '[a] Southern belle. Charming. Gorgeous', his Sense And Sensibility co-star Emma Thompson is 'clever, funny, mad as a chair' and he described Bridget Jones star Zellweger as 'delightful, also far from sane. Very good kisser'. Sandra Bullock, who played Grant’s assistant in Two Weeks Notice, is according to the Love Actually star 'a genius.

Colin Firth.s sensitive portrayal of a lonely English professor mourning the death of his lover is as intense as any film role this year. He.s in nearly every frame, often in tight close-up, and sometimes he.s buck naked. The film moves slowly and lingers on him as though he.s a work of art, which he is, in acting terms. There.s nothing this Firth fellow can.t do . from hilariously fist fighting with Hugh Grant in Bridget Jones to changing his father.s dirty underwear in profound sadness in When Did You Last See Your Father? He is gifted and natural. It.s not surprising that he holds our gaze so easily and powerfully in every moment of A Single Man.
