- The final boss Andross, which is a floating monkey head, could be nightmare fuel, plus he has a very creepy voice. After you shoot it a couple of times the head explodes and it turns into a robot demon monkey head.
- Peppy Hare often brings up memories of Fox's father during firefights and mission briefings. He is always there to remind you of how your father died.
- The murder of Fox's father. Never shown, but very prevalent in the storyline. Star Wolf (especially) taunt Fox about it. For example, Pigma telling him how loudly his father screamed when he died.
- When the Arwing is shot down, it is speculated that Fox does not survive the crash. However, this is not cannon.
